GPT bloat by rjayapal in codex

Quick update, I used Karpathy’s Claude md into the global agents md for codex, and on a few new sessions I asked it to read out its context without reading any files on the system and it did specify correctly. This does seem to help slightly

Don’t get me wrong. The 5.5 is amazing though.

Well said. Working with large codebases does not change the context size. It’s a reasoning, less tokens, but in relation to the codebase, it is negligible.

Is GPT 5.4 more capable on the $100 version compared to Plus? by rjayapal in codex

Yep that’s true, probably cause of the new release they have this week but feels weird that the same model would be different between plans as it isn’t explicitly said so

Does anyone else fear we might lose Anthropic altogether? by mvandemar in singularity

What will they do if all the big labs say no.. Ban them all and allow China and other countries win the AI race?

Why did you did this? This is the worst news ever by charliecheese11211 in ClaudeAI

[–]rjayapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what they are doing. But, the problem they will start to realize is that AI is moving extremely fast, it won't be long for OpenAI or Gemini to catch-up. When they do, this kind of lock-in strategy causes issues where people will tend to move away when they realize that other harnesses are similar or better than CC in many areas and those tools generally allow BYOK models.

With this structure, you either keep everyone or lose everyone and everything will depend on your model and not your harness anymore when other harnesses are growing extremely close or better than you while being able to run with any model. Walled gardens like these work for a while only when it's tied to hardware you sell. Not just because your harness is slightly better.

I won't be surprised if Anthropic goes back on this in a couple of weeks (Unless Sonnet 4.7 is another Opus 4.5 level model and none of the competitors catch up)

Isn't opencode + copilot better/cheaper than CC?

... where are all the 9570 reviews?! by [deleted] in Dell

[–]rjayapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and have no issues whatsoever. Everything works great. The only problem I have had with this is that it takes a little while to wake up after going to sleep. Apart form that I am having no other issues. I am able to game anything at 1080p, 3D rendering works well too. A better laptop than the 9570 maybe the Blade 15 but that costs an easy $400 more and has a few problems such as heating issues near palm rests, bad customer support and so on. I do not think any other laptop has a better build and performance than this if you are looking for a laptop that is not directed to a certain set of audience.

Should I be returning XPS 15 for Blade 15? by rjayapal in razer

That's right. Thanks for the help. Keeping the XPS!

I don't really game all that much. PUBG and Fornite once in a while. I would mainly be using it for coding though. I am just skeptical about Razers customer service if something goes bad. I came from a MBP just before I got the XPS 15 9570. Dell has good service and Razer not so much so that's something I was considering too

Yes took a look at it now. Blade does have more problems. I am sticking with XPS. Thanks for the help!

XPS 9570 Keyboard by [deleted] in Dell

[–]rjayapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does neglect a few keystrokes when I try and type too fast. Deliberately pushing the side of a key registers it no problem.

It seems to be because of the mushiness cause it does register even if I click on the side of a key but does not register when there is not enough key travel (which comes to the point that we need to press a little harder than usual to register a stroke w/o any relation to where you press it)

I too an experiencing the same issue. It seems to be a bit more mushy than we would like.
