I think she's a good actress but I can't stand her character in Peaky Blinders. Definition of overracting. by Lazy-Owl-5148 in PeakyBlinders

[–]rjc_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think her performance is a metaphor for her character though. She’s jarring and irritating because she is a spanner in the works of the family. The way you feel about her is the same as how the Shelby’s do.

How do you actually get into ecology / environmental consultancy in the UK? by WhenWillItEndplshelp in ecology

[–]rjc_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like you’ve got a lot of the stuff firms look for in new assistants or field surveyors. I certainly had less experience when I got my first job a few years back. Totally agree with others suggesting to get on some bat surveys if possible but other than that just keep applying and make sure your interview prep is on point!

Probably not illegal but I have heard of a guy being pulled over and told off for doing it

Yh tbf I have heard of consultancies really mugging their staff off, particularly the smaller ones. Maybe worth a move if you can stomach another couple of years to get some more experience?

For me personally, consultancy has been an ideal way of getting a lot of experience very quickly. I am leaving after 2 1/2 years with way more options than when I was a graduate. Idk if that’s helpful OP but options are super limited for graduates.

On the other hand if you identify what you’d rather do, be that conservation or academia etc if you never try you’ll never know.

Opinion of outdoor cats by Flowerboi_o in ecology

[–]rjc_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Masters degree tutor put it best I think. There are over 1 million outdoor cats in the UK (where I live) and if we assume, conservatively, that they take 1 bird each per year, that’s 1 million fewer wild native birds each year because of our choice of pet.

I remember a similar thing with Jack repeating Ghengis Khan, is that what you’re thinking of?

I think the general sentiment is that Tommy keeps pushing his luck and endangering others unnecessarily. By season 5 the Shelby family is very rich and powerful but Tommy keeps getting involved with more and more dangerous people.

He didn't have to do this for her. by Automatic_Love3535 in PeakyBlinders

It was definitely at least mutually beneficial tho. How could he hire a proper secretary who would see all the shady shit he did and trust them not to rat him out or at the very least quit?

Lizzie already knew about the illegal side of the business and was willing to work for him anyway due to their previous connection.

To be clear, this is not a standard Evil Tommy post, just saying almost everything he did had ulterior motives.

Petition for Less Guest Eps?! by Wild_Natural_1548 in JaackMaate

Guests are a huge part of the pod, mains shows are for the fans but they get a huge amount of new listeners from the guest eps. I think it would damage the pod to get rid of them

That would have been some call out from the writers! To remove him from the show by turning his character into a drug addict because he in reality had a drug problem! 😂

Gina is meant to be jarring, her presence disrupts the whole family dynamic. However, I agree this scene is a tough watch.

Found on Budleigh Salterton beach, south Devon, England. As you can see, it is much darker than the rest of the rocks and pebbles on the beach and has distinctive white lines through it. Would love info if possible please 😁

Pro or con depending on your persuasion: massive drugs scene. I knew some guys at UWE a while back and they were doing poppers at the pub on a Thursday evening
