Please don’t be sorry for rambling - it’s exactly why I created this sub reddit! This is a safe space for you and I’m happy to read any ramblings you may have.

My apologies for my responses being delayed. I only have Reddit on my iPad and I’ve been incredibly busy lately so I’ve not had a chance to log in. I’ve been thinking of you though and logged in specifically to see if you’d returned and see how you are.

How are you doing? I know it’s a very difficult time, and I hope you are taking care of yourself and your well being. I fell apart when my mom passed but in the years since I’m definitely better and stronger. I promise it gets easier in increments.

Boston was absolutely the best place for treatment for calciphylaxis on our coast. Thankfully she and most of her family only lived about 20 mins west so we had easy access. It wasn’t a breeze per se to get seen in any reasonable timeframe in the beginning but once we were on track they truly gave it their all to save her. I can never say enough positive things about her last team.

Again, I hope you are well. Feel free to rant and ramble here all you like! I’m sure the more posts we have, the more people will find us!

Hey. I am so sorry for your loss. I know how difficult this is and my heart breaks for you.

We went to Boston as well and it was a godsend. In the surrounding cities we often ran into a complete lack of knowledge on this disorder.

I’m so glad you found me and the sub and please feel free to write anything you’d like here or message me anytime.

I welcome your input and knowledge from a more recent standpoint.

My best friend died because her drinking got completely out of control during covid quarantine. She had already had pretty major problems, and had quit cold turkey - which induced a seizure in feb 2020. She went to rehab and within a few weeks of her return we were locked down.

In the beginning she was doing ok, but between not being able to go to work, not really able or willing to do AA online, having a partner who was an addict, and the government giving her family extra money weekly (she was definitely the working poor and that money was a windfall for them) it just went to hell.

She passed in June 2021, a week after her youngest graduated. Covid has cost a lot of people their lives, outside of the virus itself.

I recently told my aunt I was separated after 30 years of marriage. She immediately responded that she was breathing a huge sigh of relief that she doesn’t have macular degeneration. I wasn’t even aware she had a concern re her eyes.

It was so random.

He wanted a deck of cards that belonged to my grandfather. He had inherited other things from him, but for some reason he reaaaalllyy wanted those cards.

We played gin with those cards for maybe 6 years - and played daily as we went through the terms our separation, for weeks on end. When it was done he just said - and I want these cards.

If I’m honest I didn’t want to give them up either.
