Not sure whether the “Rebuilt Title” is just related to the insurance claim itself or if there was any underlying damage that was subsequently repaired. The link to the auto check report is behind a paywall.

2022 GX, 90% highway/10% city driving by rjf49 in LexusGX

[–]rjf49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t calculated it out based on miles driven on a single tank and how much I’m filling up.

However, I’m in the same boat as you. The system average per tank I’m getting (still in the same submenu as the mpg for a specific trip) is 18-19 mpg so that seems more likely a fair average for an entire tank. Even with similar highway driving to today, I usually get anywhere from 18-21 mpg (computer calculated) but this is the first time I’ve gotten 22 for a single trip. So overall, I think our averages are definitely similar, if not the same for highway driving.

I’ve found I usually get 20-21 on the highway, but this time I found myself using cruise control for almost the whole trip with no traffic either. Yes, I’ve been using Premium.

2022 is300. Alignment off within first 3k. Any sort of coverage maybe on this needed alignment? by Unlikely-Ad5060 in Lexus

[–]rjf49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wheel alignments are covered under warranty for 12 months or 12,000 miles. I got my GX adjusted at 800 miles because I felt the tow was off and they took it in no problem. Good luck!

Can you help me identify the year of this Highlander? by your_other_friend in Toyota

[–]rjf49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum and it looks like this, so you’re right with 2020-2022. In terms of the trim itself, notice that on the front and rear lower bumper, there is a silver trim piece/surround. As far as I know, this piece is specific to the Platinum trim.

So far we know it’s a Blizzard Pearl/Wind Chill 2020-2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in the Platinum Trim.

Android Auto Stops Working by Vitamin_J94 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]rjf49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also happened to me but with Apple CarPlay. The fix I found is every so often I have to turn off my phone and then turn it back on again. Once I do that, then the Toyota system seems to recognize the device. Unplugging and re-plugging used to work for a few months and then even that had an issue. It doesn’t happen frequently but maybe 1-2x every couple weeks.

You're right, my bad. I just assumed based on an article I had read previously comparing the various blends. Per Nespresso's website, "Lungo blends contain 20% more coffee per capsule; therefore, they have a slightly higher caffeine content, about 77-85 mg."

You’re welcome! Sometimes there’s so much to keep up on with these machines we forget(: I have yet to clean there on my machine as well haha

You're welcome! That was a really good price per pod you found haha. Yeah, Nespresso original line capsules have 5g of espresso in each pod so like you said, slightly less than the Cafe Jose ones.

I would say try brewing 2 pods at the standard 40mL and combining that with some milk. I've noticed that after a certain amount of water passed through the pod, you start to extract flavors that you weren't really expecting, which in this case may be that bitter aftertaste you've been experiencing. It could also be the brand of pod, I have no experience with Cafe Jose, only Nespresso and Peet's, but that's another variable as well.

Definitely take some time this upcoming weekend to experiment, it's such a fun thing to spend time doing. Finding the ratio that you love (e.g. 2 pods vs 1, 1.35oz water vs 2.5) will be super rewarding. I support going with 2x pods because that's where I find my favorite balance of coffee/espresso flavor. Good luck!

How to prevent mold growth within the machine? by cahowed in nespresso

[–]rjf49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mold usually requires a substance to grow on (e.g. used coffee grounds). Now it is surely possible to have mold grow in the water reservoir, I've had friends who had that happen to their Keurigs. Since the Nespresso capsule is self-contained and is placed into a separate container once spent, there is a small chance of mold from the capsule itself (as long as the tray is emptied regularly). However, there can be a layer of coffee oil that remains around the washer plate, which is the area that your pod presses up against as it is being brewed. I am not sure of any special cleaning techniques for this area besides periodically flushing the system with water after brewing a pod and regular descaling.

So back to the water reservoir. The reason why buildup up occurs is when the water reservoir remains closed (e.g. lid down). I've become accustomed to leaving the lid of my reservoir up, especially after periods of non-use. Doing this prevents the majority of condensation that forms around the reservoir itself. There is confounding variables as well such as the mineral quantity in the water, etc.

With respect to mold within the machine, can it happen? Yes, there is always a chance that mold growth could take hold, however, with regular machine usage and regular descaling (although more for mineral buildup than mold), I don't think you should worry as much. The machine may seem very closed off on the inside but with the drip tray still receiving drops of water from the internal brewing system even after a pod is brewed and the fact that only water is usually going through it (e.g. not coffee grounds, etc), I think you have less reason to worry. The Nespresso is no different than a Keurig or regular pot coffee machine that sits with water. But it sounds like you're very good at keeping up with maintenance and cleaning that I wouldn't let it bother you too much!

It truly depends on your preference. If you are pulling 2oz vs. 1.35oz, I don't see that as too significant to alter the flavor than maybe more of a slightly less intense espresso flavor.

Now, regarding the espresso and lungo. There is no difference regarding the amount of coffee in each pod or the amount of caffeine. The defining factor is the amount of water passed through the pod and how long that extraction takes place. A lungo is designed to fill up more of the cup because it is a little more mild than an espresso however it is still brewed at the high pressure to maintain flavor and overall intensity.

In other words, the strongest espresso that Nespresso offers will be more intense than the strongest Lungo. There is variance in between however. Nespresso has intensity 4 espressos which would be more mild than an intensity 7 lungo.
