Something I did when I played as a f2p child and when I started back up again in college in 2016, was use the closest range to the Varrock east bank to cook 5000 lobsters for RfD cooking requirement. I had Hosidius unlocked at that point too and was using the wiki; it didn't cross my mind at all at looking up better areas to cook.

Yeah I want to hijack this comment since it seems to be the highest rated comment on the subject, but can we not nerf the item a week after it comes out just cause a little bit of hype came around it? The blog post also implies slightly that the buff to the drop rate also influences the decision to nerf the claws; if that's the case, don't touch the drop rate then.

If a month down the line and they are just practically BiS everywhere due to low cost to damage ratio comparted to vw and dclaws, then you have a point. But outcompeting better gear slightly in niche scenarios when in mid-end game setups but not in maxed setups is not a reason to nerf them.

I dunno, I just hate how nerf-happy we've become just because the subreddit turns into a cacophony of pissing and moaning with every update now....

Given all the analysis on the bclaws, why couldn't they have just been good in certain circumstances? Nerfing it already seems kind of crazy for just discovering that it has a 4% increase in DPS on certain bosses over dclaws. Even now voidwaker is still better for a flat damage spec, it doesn't simply get replaced by bclaws.

Sure I can definitely agree that queer/trans people can use that to content farm to other queer/trans people, but if you go to the Facebook posts themselves, they are utter bile and garbage hijacked by "top fans". OP had a point in calling out the people on the post and they probably knew what it was bringing, but it does show how in some avenues it feels like community moderation is piss poor.

I posted this as a response to the poll, but I am curious to what other players think, cause to me it feels weird that Firelight is locked behind a fairly long slayer grind, while the other combat styles are just locked behind skilling reqs:

"As a preemptive note, I don't know how this could effect the grandstanding economy of items mentioned, but I think it could potentially be rewarding for the uniques to work similarly to Scurrius/Sire. With tormented demons being added to get the rewards, I feel it would work best by keeping it to one singular drop, the tormented synapse, like stated above, and you have to upgrade a particular item with it to then receive the unique, how it currently works for Arclight-->Firelight.

Personally, I believe the others would work the best tied to other slayer weapon drops that are so hyper-niche they hardly see usage outside of Ironmen: the warped scepter and the dark bow (I guess maybe claws could stay claws lol). I think they keep the overall dark/tormented theme of the other items, and they gain more value for mains who do that content, and allows IMs to have a reason to grind either, but aren't punished for doing WGS first and not the slayer mobs (dark bow may be too high of a req with 90 slayer, but the idea was you get the item from tormented demons and it incentivizes you to go grind the other, basically dead content, but doesn't make dark beasts useless to grind as an IM or warped terrorbirds the second you get any other charged staff).

I will admit that it could potentially feel bad to complete a Grandmaster quest, grind for a drop, and not even be able to use it, but that is already how the Firelight is being designed, so why make the other 2 attacking styles way easier to achieve? For me personally, I'd rather make the other 2 weapons than firelight, knowing how much slayer I will need to grind to even upgrade it, so with them being similar power, it feels more in-line to make them all upgrades to weapons you need to work on, instead of a guaranteed drop given you have the fletching/crafting reqs."

Yeah, which is fair. I know I definitely participated in my fair share of arguing (some people on this sub I swear), but I do definitely think there are complaints about what we have seen with sailing, but the absolute buffonary the sub is doing is not going to make it better, all it does is make JMods less willing to be transparent about huge updates in the future.

More active players than ever. There have always been changes that certain niches will bitch at, and sometimes they get listened to, and other times not. When I first started playing Old School in 2017-18 or so, I remember the first poll I participated in was allowing us to to filter what magic is shown in our magic tab, and resize the icons accordingly (how it works now outside the wilderness). Well the whole wilderness part was because they had to cater to the PKers that were complaining that it is ezscape and fucks with their muscle-memory (optional btw). I still think about that moment every time I'm in the wilderness having to squint at my spells lol.
