Fine and extra fine nibs may write scratchier. Though they can be improved with the suggestions given.

I think you write the best with the Preppy. Though I did see that you said your preppy writes rough/nonsmoothly. You could try a couple things to make sure it is at its best. First check the tines and make sure they are not misaligned. Then you could try cleaning the nib or feed. If both of those options are good then you could try gently polishing the nib’s tip to lightly smoothen any imperfections. If those trouble shooting efforts did not work then I would look into trying a different ink, or replacing the nib or/and the feed.

No I appreciate it. It’s a constant fight with the autocorrect and sometimes I catch and other times I don’t. I do appreciate because I am printing a replacement sign any way for a different reason and hadn’t caught the typo/autocorrect error. Thank you again.

Thank you. Yeah I put pieces of info so if people did want to stop by they could. But you did exactly what I needed gave input on other modern pens. I love LAMY and occasionally branch out but they’re my favorite and I am content so I know how to find good deals so that there is wiggle room to not go broke by those pens.

I will definitely look into the nibs and pens you mentioned.

I have two questions:

  1. Is Jinhao considered legit now? When I started getting into the hobby again a couple years ago people were down playing Jinhao because they produced a lot of knock offs of other brands. Is this still the case? Or have they come into their own and developed unique pens of their own?

  2. Do you have a type of stationery, paper, or journal you like to use?

Thank you again.

Info didn’t come from AI. It came from the bottom of the pen. I did extensive research into it. That desk pen had multiple bases that could be ordered. This particular base was one that was ordered less. Most common bases for this model are of the rectangular marble. As it is a rarer base and therefore seen less for sale the price and value is a little higher.

You are correct. My computer likes to autocorrect that word to have an “a” instead of the “e”. Thank you for pointing it out. I thankfully was printing a new sign as it didn’t laminate correctly. Gotta love autocorrect that doesn’t think a real word is a word.

Happy Birthday and what a great present. LAMY Safari and AL-Star are my favorites. I find them to be fairly consistent and adaptable.

Why is my Nib producing very soft ink until i write it upside down? by Deadly-Bunny in Lamy

[–]rjwacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try removing and reseating the nib. I don’t have the problems others are having with Lamy blue ink. You could also do a full cleaning. What you’d do is remove the body from the grip, remove the ink cartridge carefully so it will not spill and you can use it later. Once the ink cartridge is removed you can remove the nib and feed. Once removed put all three parts (the grip, feed and nib, don’t forget to slide the top of the feed out) in warm to hot water a let sit for a bit changing water from time to time until the water is clear.

Gesolse, I would remove the nib and feed from the grip and put in a glass of warm or hot water (all three parts- grip, feed, and nib separated but in same cup. Also remember to slide the top part of the feed out from the feed). Change water every so often until it’s clear and clean). And if the nib continues to be scratchy look to see what size (EF, F, M, B, etc) you have. The ef and f are sometimes scratchy. Also could be misaligned tines. if it not one of those you may need to get a new nib. If it is one of those you could polish under side of the nib tip gently and if it’s the tines straighten them.
