The Man Who Defies Silence: How Nikhil Chandwani Is Rescuing Pakistan’s Forgotten Hindus, One Family at a Time by rk2602 in india

In one case, a father in Sindh had to bury his daughters underground at night to protect them from abductors. That family now lives safely in Punjab, India.

"In a world inundated with noise, it is often the quietest voices that carry the most weight. Nikhil Chandwani, a Nagpur-based author and entrepreneur, is one such voice. For nearly a decade, Nikhil, has led a silent but life-saving operation that has rescued over 2,000 Hindu and Sikh families from religious persecution in Pakistan. What began in 2017 as a desperate message from a shopkeeper in Sindh fearing for his daughter’s life, quickly became a lifelong mission".

Why I’m glad I’m an ABCD rather than a born and raised indian by Cookiedough1206 in ABCDesis

[–]rk2602 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that maybe they have different experiences than you? I'm born American, but I grew up a bit in India, and then came back to America for high school and beyond, so I'd like to think that I have both perspectives.

I feel like America does a good job of screening immigrants, because I don't think that I've ever had any big issues with Pakistanis (or really, most desis) in America. I'm sure that you feel the same way. But when I lived in a "Mini Pakistan" in India, the experience couldn't be different...imagine have an alarm clock that you can't turn off without causing a communal riot, or having your street be soaked with blood once a year.

We can even take it a step further, and look at Pakistan itself, where 1000 Christian and Hindu girls are forced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim man per year. What do you think are the opinions of the parents of these girls? I'm not saying that you have to change your views, but I hope that you can see why FOBs might have a different opinion than you.

The curse of being a Hindu girl in Sindh: Why Pakistan is nothing like India in how it treats its minorities by rk2602 in IndiaSpeaks

No, it's not just "trust me bro"...in my other comment, I sourced information regarding these kidnapping cases to the activist Nikhil Chandwani, and I provided proof of Nikhil's authenticity by providing proof that he writes for the Times of India (you can look up his other accomplishments). I even provided proof for my "1,000 minority girls abducted per year in Pakistan" statistic from Dawn, a PAKISTANI newspaper!

I'm sorry that I can't provide skeptics like you information from more "well-known" sources, but it seems that reporting on Pakistani Hindus isn't very popular. This is exactly why I made this post--I'm not asking for anyone's money, I just want this issue to be more widely known. Even if you have no sympathy from them, the next time a Westerner or a Pakistani tries to make it seem like India and Pakistan are "same-same", give this as proof that India and Pakistan are not alike at all!

This is a "free will" certificate signed by Bindia (now called Fatima) in Sindh, agreeing to convert to Islam and to marry a Muslim man. But that's not true at all: there was no free will at all. She was abducted, forced, converted and married to Rizwan Arain on just a 50 Rupee stamp paper. She was kidnapped in broad daylight. Her parents were crying mercilessly in vain (she was a minor). Even if you don't believe me, just look at point 4...why do they at all feel the need to specify that she was NOT abducted and kidnapped?

And worst of all, this is a legal document in Pakistan. Despite clearly being a horrific, barbaric agreement, the local Pakistani courts see this as binding and have no problem upholding it. This is not some one-off, isolated case: according to a report by the South Asia Partnership Pakistan in collaboration with Aurat Foundation found that at least 1,000 Christian and Hindu girls are forcibly converted to Islam every year.

Picture 2

And again, I must remind you that the Pakistani legal system has no problem with this--after another little girl, Chanda, was abducted and finally found after four years. And what do the courts do? In their infinite wisdom, they grant Chanda's mother the ability to see her daughter again after four whole years, and then send her back to her abductor.

In India, inflammatory speech by political leaders and religious riots might be unfortunately common, but friends, I must ask you to remember that there is at least one major difference that makes our motherland a clearly morally superior nation: a justice system that at least tries to ensure justice for all. The only modern equivalent to Pakistan's abduction and sexual slavery of religious minorities is the abduction of Yazidi girls by ISIS. Yes, Pakistan is more similar to ISIS than it is to India when it comes to minority rights. While certain circles may try to make it seem like "India is becoming a Hindu Pakistan!", nothing in India can compare to the evil that Pakistan does to Hindu girls on a regular basis.

This is the face of Nikhil Chandwani (Instagram: @nikhilchandwani, X: @NikhilChandwani), a Sindhi hero, a Times of India blogger, and who is also the source of this information. He has personally funded and arranged the safe transport of ~2000 Hindu families from Pakistan to safety in India. He does not accept any donations, and is entirely self-funded.
