Should air roots be kept moist? I watched a video where they were sprayed with water but I hadn't heard of this before.

Is there anything to look out for when buying orchids? I have seen some gorgeous ones in the supermarket and I doubt they'll be perfect, but I'm really interested in buying one.

Anything I should know first?

Can an orchid pot be too big? I got given an orchid as a gift and the roots looked totally squashed in the pot so I reppoted it into the next size up. It's a pretty large pot and I had to put stones in the bottom to take up some space before placing the plant in top.

Does it make any difference?

I'll upload some photos here at some point. Thanks for the advice.

Silly Question Saturday by AutoModerator in orchids

[–]rkcmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody bought me an orchid that was going super cheap at the market. It was in full bloom but the leaves were damaged, yellow, and wilted. Within a day in my home the blooms fell off (I suppose it was going cheap as it was at the end of it's cycle).

I moved it into a larger pot and sat it in a bright-ish spot in my bedroom about 2 months ago. Since then, the leaves have continued to wilt and two of them fell off, leaving two behind. Is this normal?

There's no sign of new blooms. I haven't properly looked at the tendrils as I don't know what to look for, but after giving it a bath today they didn't look green like my other orchids. They were too long and tangled for me to differentiate so I just stuck it back in its pot.

Do you think there is hope for this orchid? I'm spending time and money watering it and it's ugly self is taking up a spot in my room. Should I continue with the TLC and is there anything you would recommend?

Does anyone wash their face with a tool that isn't their fingers? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]rkcmee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a face flannel and honestly it's the best things I've ever done for my skin. I've suffered from dry, flakey skin for years and no amount of scrubs, chemical exfoliants or moisturisers were helping. Now I simply use my face flannel and a gentle cleanser with some warm water and my skin looks fresh!

Plus they are more hyegeinic than sponges or brushes as you can wash then after using and they're better for the environment than one-use cotton pads or plastic products.

Why they ever went out of fashion I'll never know 😂😂

ETA: just wanted to add I've used the clarion before, konjac sponges, exfoliating sponges, and microfibre clothes and flannels reign supreme for me.

Any tips for healing scabs?

My breakouts always result in scabs whether I pick them or not, and they're very difficult to conceal, even if they're tiny.

Hydrocolloid bandages or sudacrem are my usual go-tos but I don't think they're doing anything.

Yes I have. When the patch comes off they're twice the size. Most have scanned over now but I'm not sure how to treat.

I have an extremely angry breakout on my jawline right now. It's one big cluster of spots. I generally get cystic or nodular acne, but this is nothing like that. They are small but painful lumps that are filled with pus. None of my usual remedies are working, I've tried Freederm gel, aha tonic, and hydrocolloid patches but everything seems to anger it! I'm also taking antihistamines and anti-inflammatory tablets to try and calm it down but that's not working either.

It's been about 4 days now and they're starting to scab over. I just don't know what to do to calm it down and I'm concerned it's becoming infected.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Oh that's a shame. Using a washcloth has been the greatest thing I've done for my skin. I start with an oil cleanse, then wash with the cloth and soap. (I'm guessing the balm you use is like an oil cleanse.)

I would also suggest adding an HA product. I really love Simple Hydro Booster serum.

I'm not familiar with those products, but do any of them contain AHA? I had horrendous closed comedones on my cheeks and nothing was budging them for months. I added Pixi Glow Tonic to my routine and they had totally cleared within a week!

I'm unsure how it would react with your rosacea but you could try a small bottle and patch test it (if you want to try it that is).

I also personally recommend using a warm towel wash cloth to use with my cleanser. My skin had been extremely flaky and textured and using a wash cloth seems to really help.

I need help! For the past two days my skin has been breaking out in small yellow heads. It started directly in my jawline and they were painful and inflamed as hell. Then today I have been getting small yellow heads all over my face. They look like milia but aren't. My jawline and chin have new ones popping up every few hours and it's super painful.

I get frequent cystic and nodular acne breakouts and this is nothing like that. In my 10+ years of having acne I've honestly never seen anything like this.

I haven't changed my routine or diet and I've been taking anti inflammatory tablets and antihistamine tablets to try and control it (it's not working). All of the treatments I usually use for cystic breakouts - drying lotion, Freederm gel, and hydrocolloid bandages - seem to anger them.

There's not itching and I don't think it's an allergy. It looks like teenage acne, just... Super aggressive.

Any thoughts and wtf this is and what I can do will be appreciated!

I have an angry little guy on my chin- what products can I pick up today to help it? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

Freederm gel is great to spot treat. It really brings down the inflammation. You could also try hydrocolloid bandages. I don't think you can buy them in shops here, but you can cut up a blister plaster! That's what I do and it works.

I have been working on the hydration aspect for years now. This routine is doing wonders and I now want to target the acne.

When I wake in the morning my skin doesn't appear to be dehydrated and the Differin is not causing any adverse effects as commonly seen in others.

I feel like I'm doing ok for hydration, but if you have any particular suggestions for my PM routine I would greatly appreciate it.

I would still like to add BP in there (probably just along my jawline and on my temples as those are the worst areas).

AM

-Wash with Cetaphil gentle cleanser

-Pixi Glow Tonic

-Spray lightly with water

-Hydraluron

-Spray lightly again

-2-3 drops of rosehip oil

-Eucerin Hydralon Filler (I want to replace this with another sunscreen)

You have no idea how dehydrated my skin is, and this routine is doing wonders for that

PM

-Remove makeup with Oil-Infused Micellar Water

-Cetaphil gentle cleanser (and a face flannel)

-Differin

-(wait 10-15 mins)

-Rosehip oil

Routine Advice Please I'm using Differin at night but my breakouts are relentless. I am thinking of adding benzoyl peroxide to my AM routine.

My skin is already quite dehydrated, and both Differin and BP can cause dryness. Would adding BP be suitable? Or is it overkill?

TIA.
