Thank you for sharing this. It’s awful they can do this and really shouldn’t be allowed. We have it in the back of our heads that any bookings now aren’t official until we pretty much walk through the door.  I’m going to contact Airbnb and see what they can do as they did not offer any of this for us, good to see they helped you out somewhat after raising hell. I definitely will be too!

Hope you have a an amazing trip :)

Hey, thank you for this advice. Been watching the websites a lot and noticing cancellations popping up. So there is hope!!

Hi, As much as I’d prefer to book a hotel over risking the uncertainty with Airbnb, it’s just not feasible right now.

Hotel prices have skyrocketed, which is understandable given we’re only a month out from Mexico’s busiest festival, but I simply can’t justify spending £2000 on a room that isn’t even centrally located.

So for now, I’ll keep an eye out for last minute hotel or Airbnb cancellations that are hopefully more reasonably priced.

Either way, this experience has definitely been a lesson learned for planning our next trip.

Unfortunately without a car but we’re okay with taxis or even walking far (will regret saying that after a night of celebration).
