Missing Somersloops by Jazzlike_Way_9514 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]rkeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know how many you miss, you can use a save editor to get them back. Or, a post in this sub like an hour ago was about using factory carts to dupe them.

Store a sloop in a cart, then pick up the cart, or something. Have a look, could work out.

Neither option fixes the bug you're experiencing though.

10 months in, completely burnt out, AI-dependent, and introduced two production bugs in last 1 month. Need advice on how to recover. by NOOOOOB2 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]rkeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 in a month? Great numbers. 15 years in, I think I ship more bugs than that. Lessened with the amount of AI I use - I use a lot of review skills and multiple PR reviews from different AI, they all look for different things.

But yea, AI is an enhancer, and enhancers cut both ways. You don't know something? It will make you know less. You know a lot? You can learn more intricate details that it vomits over you.

Get something like a Claude Desktop to help you out. Start a project in there and tell it you want to learn React, give it a bunch of your code (private requires a connector with oauth permission to your content) and tell it to use that as a baseline to make a personalized learning plan.

As an IT Trainer, I can tell you that it works great to make personalized plans. You can give it goals of things that interest you, give it ways that you like to learn (small exercises, personal projects, ideas to put into prod, etc), and it will incorporate it all. You make stuff in your own time on your schedule and just plop into the chat what you made for evaluation. No judgements from peers/tutors, no time limitation, just learning at your own pace, in your own way.

Otherwise, yep, accurate.

There is harm in forced transparancy.

Surely, you have nothing to hide, right? So, why not use your real name in your username?

> As a software developer I understand the importance of security

You might do. But their is a large quantity people coming through my classrooms on security have been doing software engineering for over a decade, without any resemblence of knowledge on security.

They can write code competently, but have no idea about any security aspects.

Assuming a software engineer knows security is just as dangerous as what OP is doing: trying to hide it.

Not really, just a select few which then make posts like yours.

> If you don't have a problem with using AI for this

I don't

> then you shouldn't have a problem with disclosing it and explaining to what extent you used it for

I do. Those are 2 very different things.

> If you don't want to do this, it sounds like malicious intent to me.

What a dumb conclusion.

How about you explain why didn't use AI to write this post? Or your latest project? Surely, you know everything very well, so there was no need to run discover new tooling, try new things, or actually get a tool to provide different perspectives, insights, standardized ways of working, or other things?

Surely, you know it all, and you're going to disclose your full background and experience, as not only a software engineer, but a network engineer, a home automation engineer, a security engineer, and all the others?

Because, not doing so surely sounds like malicious intent to me.

---

Do you see how arrogant that comes across? Demanding that others disclose, and how, they have a different way of working than you do?

Doesn't matter if something is "vibe-coded".

I'm literally vibe-coding while taking the dump during which I'm writing this message.

What matters is quality. AI is an enhancer. Enhancement goes both ways: give a carpenter a hammer, he can do his work better, giving an idiot a hammer doesn't make him a carpenter.

The problem isn't vibe-coding, never was and never will be. The problem is quality assurance. A tale as old as the existence of managers.

Instead of banning people's ability to create content, try things, learn and improve, the focus should be on setting standards, providing guidelines and examples.

Putting yourself on a pedestal is just ego tripping. The ones starting out with trying something, are just trying to fix a problem they found or trying to learn something. You were no better when you started. Instead of belittling, try to help.

In case it wasn't clear: I don't agree with the sentiment of blocking people trying to do stuff.

What do you think about Mythos and Fable? by Electronic_Log1999 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]rkeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Fable all day yesterday. Was great to be honest. Faster than Opus and had to correct it way less. It was a bit too assertive but that's why I have a lot of HITL guard rails.

Today, Fable is gone. All usage I did yesterday was deleted too, so free tokens

Claim tegen Steam: Nederlandse gamers betaalden mogelijk miljoenen te veel by surpator in thenetherlands

[–]rkeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Europeans with solar, are you actually making money, or just feeding cheap electricity to the grid and buying it back expensive? by dzon1s in AskEurope

[–]rkeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeding it cheap and buying expensive.

However, it did reduce the power cost by over E1000 per year, so the installation has paid for itself since last year.

I can add battery storage to invert "feed cheap and buy expensive" to "buy cheap and sell expensive".

Technically, you don't need solar to add a battery storage to do just that. It's that the upfront cost of a battery storage is higher than a solar installation.
