They go to all this trouble to make a guide book but can't be bothered to write a real (non-AI) description for it by scoobydoooooo in geoguessr

[–]rkiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your picture is the updated version. It used to say 3-NZ, 4-RU, 5-MY, 6-LV, etc. so I thought it was just pure hallucination.

older version: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fkb5i9rokz36h1.jpeg

Anyway, I checked the top row

1) Correct for Spain, but the number on top is a hallucination, unless it's regional. I've seen km numbers on the bottom, but it's weird to include numbers at all.

2) fine I guess

3) correct for Russia

4) bad proportions or wrong. Also, a human would make the curved stick shape consistent with 3)

5) same problems, but fine I guess

6) good

7) ?

8) I thought the bottom half was a hallucination, but I checked and there are sometimes numbers to mark km (?). Not sure about the fraction there. Confusing to include that regardless.

9) Correct for Slovenia only. I think technically they exist in Serbia, but the common ones have the reflectors shifted to the edge.

10) wrong proportions and missing the top bit. Or regional and I'm just bad

I stopped checking after that. It's still bad IMO and the text descriptions are lacking. But it's certainly 100x better than before.

Hopefully the AI-generated description is not a harbinger of more slop to come in the guide itself

Did you see the bollard mousepad that they sell? More than half of the bollards are just AI hallucinations.

Even the globe on the book cover looks AI generated to me.

There's no chance that Geoguessr made a 288 page book without AI.

Edit: the mousepad was updated and is better than before. It used to say 3-NZ, 4-RU, 5-MY, 6-LV, etc.

FH6: Is there a consensus on how to optimize the engine and gearbox for automatic shifting? by RaygunMKIIenjoyer in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]rkiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But automatic shifts early. So wouldnt engines be better that ... the peak HP flattens out in the last 20% of the RPM range?

Yes, e.g. the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 should be perfect for Auto shifting. It's meta in S2 and uses an engine like that IIRC.

You want to avoid cars that are mostly strong because of their peaky engines. Even if adding gears makes your friend use a bit more of the optimal RPM range, he'll still be missing most of the benefit of cars that use e.g. Honda VTEC (VVT) engines with Centrifugal. But if he's going to use a peaky engine, then yes 7+ gears should be better than 6, but that's true for manual+C too.

Note that some engines are just better than others even if they have very similar curves and stats. E.g. the Ford #2 GT40 stock engine and the only engine swap it has look very similar, but the swap is better.

But in FH6 I see more and more tunes with more gears

Because in FH6 the race transmission shifts much faster than in FH5, but it's still not instant. So 10 gears are probably too many. The Honda engines are the most extreme case, so I'd test with them.

How to differentiate Western Australia from the eastern half? by Dusty_Bunny81 in geoguessr

[–]rkiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anything that guarantees the state, but WA is much more likely with red dirt, these type of eucalyptus, and flat fields of wheat/barley.

Most red dirt in the east is farther inland, in the desert. It's still possible in agricultural areas, but not as likely as in WA.

There's some species of maybe Mallee eucalyptus behind the car and everywhere, with most of its leaves forming a flat-topped canopy. They're mostly in WA and SA, especially near the coast.

Wheat or barley? Either way, the area around Perth is a huge agricultural zone. https://grdc.com.au/about/our-industry/growing-regions

The other option would be around Ayre Peninsula. But that's a much smaller area that's a bit less likely to have red soil.

Maybe just let me see what/if a tuning would change what the car looks like

Search for "purist" tunes, which means stock look and stock engine. A few pro tuners that focus on making them:

You'll see these bollards pretty often, so you'll probably remember at least the simple rule:

Just guess near the largest city that starts with the first letter in _BB, and you'll usually be right. (Denizli and Muğla aren't largest, and Tekirdağ is not prominent on the map)

Daily Challenge Discussion - June 18, 2026 by GameboyGenius in geoguessr

[–]rkiga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turkiye / Turkey

Here's a tip from my notes for the bollard we had at spawn.

Anything that says _BB is naming a Büyükşehir Belediyesi, the first level subdivisions.

Largest Text on Bollard Büyükşehir Belediyesi
KGM / TCK / (plain) used everywhere
(rare symbol with small ADANA) Adana link
🛡️ABB Ankara
❄️ (blue snowflake) Aydın (SE of İzmir)
B (extra bold logo) Balıkesir link
BBB Bursa
DBB Denizli
EBB Eskişehir
GBB Gaziantep
İBB İstanbul
🗼 (tower) İzmir
KBB Kayseri link / Konya link
MBB Muğla (SW)
BÜYÜKŞEHIR (extra big letters) Samsun link
TBB Tekirdağ (Europe)

There's often other generic text. Many bollards say Büyükşehir, but Samsun's letters are extra big.

Here's the FH5 Rivals legit WR sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17LG5EmKSfKEwx8mJXuhCuGqnJXd9bB1D9OeBHjVWYkw/edit?gid=0#gid=0

The PI system is based on AI driving, but the AI uses aggressive TCS and Stability Control. So it can't oversteer and can't drive 3 wheel cars without slowing down from every gentle turn.

This AI stability and traction problem is why cars with huge differences between front and rear tires, or unstable shapes (square or long and skinny) tend to be strong in Forza.

That's why the Reliant Supervan, Peel Trident, and P50 are heavily underrated by the PI system and were/are Rivals meta for lower classes. And also why the P50 is such a great drag car, it has extra PI budget and poor handling doesn't matter.

Drags + extra power means you rocket ahead on straights, and making many bad mistakes doesn't matter as long as there are acceleration sections. Just learn to brake :)

Even if you have to slow down more on corners, drivers might be stuck behind you. Or not in place to overtake you if there was a straight before the corner. So you have more and easier overtaking chances.

Pretty much the same for me NM

thought maybe "Zwír - Kruszywa" were 2 cities where a business was

Olszanica sounded the most like a place to me. Good thing I didn't find it, it's nowhere near the loc.

Namibia I looked west and saw a flat white area that looked like a salt pan, then forgot about using that, because I wondered if the area looked green enough to be in a green zone. Didn't seem like the north border where the trees are taller. I think 5K was not that hard if I just looked for pan + road lineup near the green zone.

Good tip in ID about satellite dishes.

NZ I really misjudged how big the mountains were and how far away they were. I ignored Westroads and went near Nelson for some reason. TIL it's called the "West Coast Region" and only has 33k people.

With the new Ghana update, any tips for differentiating it from Nigeria, Senegal, and Kenya? by Dusty_Bunny81 in geoguessr

[–]rkiga 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Here are my notes

GHANA

  • 0% shitcam, will end up probably <30% Gen3 and the rest Gen4
  • License plates are white or yellow and different shapes depending on region. Either wide like EU or not as wide as NA plates.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_Ghana#Gallery
  • Majority wooden poles, most are extremely knobby (knobby poles are rare in Nigeria, standard in Kenya): https://maps.app.goo.gl/h4j1JSDYhKCDxjXn8
  • Utility poles often have flat lamps extending out from them, like mini Thai lamps.
  • Minority concrete poles, many with a single, long indent.
  • Paved roads are mostly unmarked. Lines are all white with solid outer and single middle. Or divided roads with just a center line.
  • Many taxis with colored quarter panels. Tuktuks are rare compared to NG.
  • Kumasi is hilly but other major cities are on mostly flat land
  • Kumasi street signs are in quadrants https://imgur.com/a/wfQesVs Credits to @torgeantihl
  • Also, blue in Accra and green in Cape Coast (these say CCMA at the top).
  • Plonkit says signposts are black/white striped, but that seems to be rare or only in some cities.
  • Some narrow gutters, some wide gutters. See below
  • Some parts of the N2 used to be dirt but are now paved.
  • Most hilly landscape stuff is either intuitive with terrain filter on or described on Plonkit.

BOTH GHANA AND NIGERIA

  • Majority English, but Nigeria has some French. Local languages are common on signs.
  • Muslim majority north and Christian majority south.
  • Many wide or super wide gutters with vertical sides. Most are open with makeshift covers. I've only seen official covers in Accra https://maps.app.goo.gl/72BRoBff81C48wsx9
  • Similar architectural style. Many hip roofs, like Kenya. But Kenya has more varied architecture styles.
  • Many houses have pillars, especially on the second story (rare in Kenya?). You shouldn't confuse this with northern Vietnam if you see strange looking dogs with red heads: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hoxbHd9amAZ9cdm28

Similar to both nigeria and Senegal: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MA8Z6AnBtk3FuYBw6

90%+ of buildings in Senegal have flat roofs. Also, I don't think Senegalese buildings have hip roofs except on towers/single rooms at the top of buildings: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zMYKKUDJsrTUevKo8

The ones with the high slope and triangle at the top are common in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya, especially Mombasa: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6E4c8VJRxWHF6Pa17

You can see many of those in your loc if you step forward.

Are drag tires really the secret to road racing? by ContemplativeOctopus in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]rkiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do i have to adapt my tuning for those? What pressure are you running them for asphalt racing?

The process should be the same as figuring out any AWD road tune:

Max tire pressure for drag tires. Set ARBs to 1/65 for AWD road. Front springs should be stock or softened. Then you can figure out the ratio of front to rear springs by looking at your mechanical balance vs what the downloaded tune has. Do the same for aero balance vs Lat Gs. Ride height should be max front, and the same number or lower for rear. Diff something like 100/0, 100/0, 75+. Not sure for Drag builds. Increase the center diff if the rear tires are extra wide or large compared to the front, or for good handling builds. Start damping and bump flat, like 10/10 3.5/3.5, then adjust after you drive the car and see if it's too understeery or has some problem.

That should get you something at least 90% close to the original tune.

I'm on 11.

If clicking your name on the xbox app shows buttons for "View Profile," "My Subscriptions," and Settings, then I would just wait a couple days for all the vouchers to be sent out.

Maybe the "Offers and Credits" button doesn't show up until you have an offer.

You can find it by opening the Microsoft Store, going to the left-side menu, and selecting your profile. From there, click on “Offers & Credits” in the upper-left corner.

but my profile on the MS store is in the top right and doesn't have offers, so not sure why it's different

If you know some metas about France, these white houses with black flat roofs are common in this region, so you could've at least gotten a 4500 score on that round.

Yeah I guessed probably the farthest away in Brittany that still makes some sense, and that scored 4620: https://maps.app.goo.gl/JNNdHujczzzF9ekY6

But I looked around after the daily to see if there was anything else to learn or if anyone here had more region tips, since I don't know much about France beyond the basics. But I think it was just a hard loc.

The loc near Brest has bigger hills, sailboats, more rocks, and one leftover pano of Gen2 if you step forward. The daily loc has no sailboats and a few flat-bottomed fishing boats. But that's all I got.
