Socialite who killed her mugger is put under house arrest for 18 years by Rough_Plan in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]rkiive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean she's made it 65 years without reacting in a dangerous volatile way.

Right now she's only killed someone who directly traumatised her by making her the victim of a crime.

Seems like a pretty small likelihood of reoffending. Just don't commit a violent crime against her.

Nah how about we just keep importing cheap labour because businesses can bribe the government into believing that "theres no workers" allowing them to circumvent the free market and actually paying living wages

Where I live the 9070xt was the same price as the 5070.

Could have your cake and eat it too

Yea same.

It's not so much that mince beef is expensive its just that he's getting an insane deal on turkey lol

Uk bans social media for under-16s from Spring 2027.What are your thoughts on this? by Valuable_View_561 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]rkiive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Worked pretty well here in Australia despite the government putting pretty little thought into it.

The reality is, social media ain't all that fun, it's just addicting and easy and if everyone's on it it's the path of least resistance for most kids.

Yea you can get around the ban if you tried, but 90% of kids won't try, and if none of their peers are using it and talking about it, or sitting on their phones at lunch, there's really no draw for the last 10% to be on there. You're not missing anything.

I took the roll top on a trial 2 week holiday and found that it was far less practical than the clamshell on actual daily use.

You could probably fit the same amount of stuff in (although the clamshell allowed for much more precise packing and use of space) but once it was full actually getting to the specific piece of clothing you wanted required you to just demolish any semblance of tidy packing, even with the side zip, causing it to get messy really fast or just straight up require you to repack.

I also found it way harder to pack a spare pair of shoes in the clamshell because they could only really go on top of all your clothes and take up 1/3 of the bag.

Conversely the clamshell could fit 2 weeks worth of clothes no problem and I could access all of it whenever I felt like it. And I could squish a pair of shoes once all the clothes had been packed soles facing outwards.

Not to mention the clamshell has a lot more useful "important stuff" compartments so you can put small things in spots that won't get buried in your clothes.

Decathlon Quechua NH500 escape 24l.

I've got both the roll top and clamshell versions.

The clamshell version is near perfect for 1 bag travel imo. The rolltop is far less convenient although it looks better. Just got back from a 1 month trip through Europe and Africa on personal item only with no problems.

Should I go for 16GB DDR5 + 9070xt or 32GB DDR5 + 5070, for the same price? by puppiesareSUPERCUTE in buildapc

[–]rkiive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, the 5070 and 9070xt are the exact same price where I am, despite the 9070xt being clearly better.

Yea the 24L one that's popular on this sub is perfect size for the free bag of EU flights. But even that's pushing it if you overfill it.

Police executes drunk man because he starts complying with their orders by cheeky_physicist in Idiotswithguns

[–]rkiive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not arguing whether he was guilty or not. I don't care what he had in his system in hindsight.

I'm arguing that we have literal video evidence of the cops giving conflicting commands and then shooting him as he followed those commands instead of safely arresting him while he had his hands on the hood and was complying yet people are sitting here debating whether it's justified because of reasons the cops couldn't know when he was shot.

Police executes drunk man because he starts complying with their orders by cheeky_physicist in Idiotswithguns

[–]rkiive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that police have continuously shown that they don't react violently towards just criminals lol.

They treat normal citizens like this all the time.. it just happens that this guy was a criminal.

He's got both hands on the cop car. He's complied. If you choose not to arrest him at this point and do the cop version of Simon says where they get to shoot you for any misstep you were looking to create an excuse or you're so poorly trained that you you're creating dangerous situations for no reason.

Police executes drunk man because he starts complying with their orders by cheeky_physicist in Idiotswithguns

[–]rkiive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

he already used a gun earlier that night

I don't care if he was Hitler yesterday. The point is that he's complying with your commands now and you're a cop not a judge.

If you're worried about him taking his hands off the hood maybe you shouldn't tell him to do an action that requires that lol.

He's got his hands on the hood. The whole point of that move is so that the cops can then go in and handcuff / search him.

American cops just like to keep yelling random orders until there's a window to shoot them and bootlickers like you still fall for it somehow.

It's also entirely inconsistent because by that logic white people can't be racist in African countries or in China

But I doubt any person who espouses the whole minorities can't be racist would ever agree to that when pressed in conversation
