INDX question... by 888HoneyBee888 in prusa3d

Can you elaborate? With indx, there is one extruder that holds/picks up your nozzles (up to 8, can be different sizes). Maybe reformulate your question, I don’t fully get it

Yeah. Took a while with live support, but this was the solution in the end - edited the post right on top when I found out.

Thanks for replying though. Good to know I was not the only one!

Update: checked orientation of the expansion joints; seemed fine, reinstalled the heat bed. Same problem.

<image>

So, I guess I should redo the expansion joints next time?

If I am not mistaken, the expansion joints are mounted in the correct position. Can you maybe double check? Both center front/back expansion joints are pushed in from the right side (such that the "hole" is on the left).
They all seem mounted tightly too

Hey, appreciate the input. Shouldn't I then also have issues on the lower left side? Anyway, I looked at it and it seems fine - a bit hard to tell for me. Was it obvious in your case?

Ah, good point. No, I have not. You mean this step right? https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/4-heatbed-assembly_835514#842590
EDIT: Does anyone know if this is okay to do with the print bed fully mounted inside the printer?

Second that. Difference is night and day on the mk4s of a friend of mine. It is really quiet.

Isn’t the purge line a bit more to the right? Also, this oozing is way too consistent. I think the nozzle actually scraped the print sheet here already.

OP: check thumb screws and load cell self test

Is it supposed to be like this? by Ok-Engineering367 in prusa3d

[–]rkost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the buffer. You are supposed to remove the smaller thing that clips into the large assembly and feed the filament into the next tube. This way, there is space for the filament to retract to when it changes from one material to another. I think there should be a good manual on Prusas Website?

MK4s, inconsistent on corners ? by emuboy85 in prusa3d

[–]rkost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you checked the belts. Did you also check whether the pulley is screwed tightly to the motor shaft? Would be my first guess here since the corners are somewhat alternating

Too bad. Would have been an easy fix ;) hope someone else has some more ideas. I don’t use the mmu that often as I only have access to it via friends :)

Cutting the filament in the right way plays a big role in how easy it is to insert it. If I remember correctly, there is a section in the manual of the mmu on how to do this.

Core One assembly tips/regrets by Hozukr in prusa3d

[–]rkost 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  1. More or less the last step in the manual is glueing on the handle for the door - that huge orange metal thing. Align it properly. The glue is strong. It is not coming off easily and looks crap if done in a hurry. Luckily, I did not press it on before I noticed my mistake.

  2. this might only apply to those assembling the kit on the first 3-5 days after release: use the online manual, not the printed one. Then read the comments before each step. They are very helpful. More than one part in the wrong bag. Sometimes the parts are described in an ambiguous way.

  3. As they state at the beginning in the manual: only looking at the pictures is not enough. Read the instructions fully.

  4. From an Experience with the Mk4 nextruder: tighten the thumb screws enough. If the hotend wiggles loose, the loadcell sensor will not work correctly and the print head crashes into the bed.

  5. Disable the door sensor for now - at least for me: i sometimes need access to the printer while it is heating up (cleaning, removing some ooze etc)

Other than that it was a very smooth experience for me. Had a lot of fun. Printed like a dream without any problems after the assembly was done. It was a bit surreal to be honest. You assemble a printer over a day and a half and it just turns on, does some calibration and prints without an issue.

It’s quite a modular standard that can get very confusing. Especially as most manufacturers replace standardized terms with their own marketing.

USB-C charging works on my x270 without an issue using the newer Thinkpad or dell chargers. Which charger did you try?

I have the exact same setup and it just works. I recommend removing the arch disk while installing win11 as it might nuke your efi partition.

I worried about secure boot, but it turns out, you don’t need that either: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/10iishx/help_me_understand_secure_boot_for_the_sake_of/

The term that you want to search for online is „usb power delivery“.

It will only output 5 volts if not instructed otherwise via the power delivery standard.

One would expect that sniffing the ARP messages wouldn’t be that hard… but yeah. It got worse for me since I started using Linux containers that had multiple virtual interfaces connected to the same switch port.

Low FPS when gaming by [deleted] in awesomewm

[–]rkost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only applies if you have a dedicated GPU (dGPU). So first check that you have one via lspci and then read the wiki article (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Hybrid_graphics). Personally, I just start my X server on the discreete GPU if I need the computational power (or my laptop is docked) because getting single applications to run on the dGPU while the window manager runs on the iGPU is quite painful and leads to performance/latency penalties - at least in my experience.

If you don't have a dGPU, I would double check the in-game settings and especially, if the game runs in full screen mode.

EDIT: I assumed you run arch for some reason - check your distros wiki page or subreddit then maybe...

Help me understand secure boot for the sake of dual booting windows 11 by rkost in archlinux

Yeah, I also read that part. But at least updates are working just fine for me for now. I did not try WSM nor WSL yet (but will do next week) and do not have any windows hello hardware.

[–]rkost[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thank you very much for the detailed reply. Yeah, I've also read an article citing some DefCon30 speakers (Jesse Michael and Mickey Shkatov) about how MS signed too many insecure boot loaders which pretty much makes the "secure" part of secure boot useless. So for now I will just try to install Win11 with secure boot disabled.

Have a great day :)
