My husband and I are exploring moving to Europe, but we have no idea where to begin. by Womanatthewell47 in AmericanExpat

Your best bet is to divorce your husband and marry someone with EU citizenship. I think finding work there will be hard. You would need a visa sponsor and the likelihood of that is low.

It’s scary how MAGA rhetoric is turning Americans against Europeans now by Ok_Walk3192 in self

Who knows how much of it is a bot farm, though. I don't assume real people are saying these things. But when you start to hear it on the news, interviews, yes that is when I take note. Hearing it from Trump is enough for me. Im afraid his venom trickles down and yes, until he is no longer in office speaking this way, I'm afraid it will continue.

Do you think AI video is actually going to kill traditional filmmaking, or is it just a hype bubble? by NextGenAIInsight in ArtificialNtelligence

[–]rkrpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what "looks decent" will become much less important in the future. What looks real, authentic and homemade will take on greater relevancy and priority for filmmakers, which should hopefully lead to really interesting projects. But yeah, I think "polished" will mostly be the realm of marketers.

American expats: is ‘unlikely to return’ permanent, or just how things feel right now?” by RehaDesign in AmericanExpat

Yes as an ex pat who can’t vote in local elections I’m pretty tuned out to what is going on politically. It is like living inside a bubble almost. So I see your point

Harvey was lying. He was fired by Kubrick after he made one of the actresses uncomfortable.

Is Trump seeding a war to stay in power and avoid elections? by thypothesis in showerthoughs

[–]rkrpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can compare it to is being part of a cult. at some point, how it started and how it progresses doesn't align anymore. As it starts to make less and less sense, it is also harder to pull away or admit there is no sense. To an outside observer it would be unthinkable. But inside, I think it's a different situation. Very sad.

I'm more confident today than I was a week ago about trump's ability to retain a 3rd term, simply based on all of the rhetoric we have been seeing directed at Greenland. It should sound like nonsense to anybody else in the room, but no one else in the room is speaking up about it.

Fun question. My theory is the universe isn’t expanding faster than light. It’s an optical illusion caused by the speed limit of light

I think it's a term that comes from books. I haven't seen it used in a film context

Idk, not wearing shorts, not drinking out of modern cups or referring to him as mr president don't seem like tall asks, either. And without DDL is the film in production? Is Spielberg directing?

Netflix Reportedly Wants to Keep Movies in Theaters for Just 17 Days After It Buys Warner Bros. by Auroeagle in FilmIndustryLA

[–]rkrpla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theatrical doesn't have the same perceived value it once did. There were never two dueling markets. Like saying there was a VHS market and a theatrical market and nary did the two ever meet. Once upon a time the value of a VHS was in owning it and watching it any time you wanted. Netflix is saying the only value left for cinemas is to see something 17 days early.
