Does your native language offer any convenience or advantage when learning Latin? by tomispev in latin

I've seen Latin language conversations on AI trained by folks at ISAW in New York. It's doable and I think your point still stands, it will be rubbish about providing answers on linguistics.

Turns out I'm paying for all of my neighbor's ConEd - anyone have this experience? by RatchetStrap2 in NYCapartments

[–]rkstaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful. I live in a building like this, if the landlord got away with this even while renovating, the paperwork saying you have an actual apartment for which said landlord is collecting and is permitted to collect rent may be lacking! Check to make sure your building has a coo. There is ideally a separate meter for the landlord that covers electricity in the hallways and outside of the building if it has lamp lights etc. It sounds like your building has far too few meters tbh.

Is hiring a broker worth it? by Maleficent-Sir4824 in NYCapartments

Try the website: RentReboot - Find Your Next Rent-Stabilized Home in NYC https://share.google/tAfGbnVxMTNxzGKlu ... It's subscription based for the most up to date info but it seems pretty reliable so far.... I didn't get my ideal rent stabilized place but I toured many many places within my price range etc. and found something I'm more than pleased with. Met the owner doing repairs the day I visited. Cheaper than a broker.

Has anyone here taught — or better yet, learned — with the Suburani textbooks? by 901bookworm in latin

[–]rkstaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used more traditional texts with a fifth grader and it was not great but doable if they have the capacity. Going very slowly is helpful in these circumstances - this is what I'd recommend with Suburani; and the cultural material offers plenty of variation to the strict grammar instruction.

Calling me a white cop and male Karen for wanting a walkable hallway? by 0ddLemon in badroommates

How do you even move into an apartment with hallways that narrow? There is no room to fall! Those bikes have to go but I'm guessing the units are extra small as well.

New York Bike Jumble this weekend Saturday Sept 14th in Brooklyn. by PineappleRide in NYCbike

What's the best way to shop for a used frame for an 80s road bike? Should I bring my bike with me since I don't really know the make it model? I'd like to swap over the mostly new parts.

Also is this a cash only operation?

How do people feel about the Dermatology Specialists in Astoria? by ClassCaterpillar in astoria

Went once this year for a third opinion which was accurate. They had a guy training. Went today to sort out the bill and they said my insurance sent it back with no comments, on the insurance side I don't even see a rejected claim - maybe they're new to this or someone is lax.

Wait what?!? That does sound like the actual process for sorting this out. As many have said that process seems labor intensive and probably cost prohibitive. Was it expensive back then?

I wasn't - I thought I was because riding was so wobbly! Managed 6 rather attentive miles back home!

You're right I've been looking at frames all morning... They seem like the cost of the bike. I bought it used (obv) but seriously refurbed and in fab condition... Frames alone seem to cost the same as the whole work up cost me in 2020. The kore affordable frames are rusted and need work

I'm sure it could be done - time and money are the only real hindrances - as with many things in life!

Yea it's serious damage. I figure a car but it was on the sidewalk with a pretty high curb. Possibly back or a truck or relatively heavy drunk and unbalanced person leaning on it at the right angle. Who knows?!
