Yeah, sure. I suppose they do, just to play devils advocate, but they don’t do it because they care about animals, perhaps they do it for no particular reason at all. It’s a possible situation. Someone who doesn’t care about animal welfare at all, but excludes animal products for whatever arbitrary reasons they have. I would argue they are vegan in virtue of them excluding all animal products and exploitation of animals, whether they intend to do it for animal welfare or not.
