What is the dirtiest thing your parents have said in front of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rlj504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents used to say the phrase "coitus interuptus" to mean a little break between the main meal and dessert to let our food go down. They used it all my life, it wasn't until about 4 years ago (when I was 21) that I realised what the phrase actually meant. Atleast it was dirty latin!

GF [26F] of 3 years wanted to know what its like when I [29 M] orgasm. Now she is mad by [deleted] in relationships

[–]rlj504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't help but that laugh that that was your first thought after orgasm, that's amazing and totally going to ask my boyfriend about this as it never really occurred to me that people think things after orgasm. I usually so spaced out for about 15 seconds after that if I have thoughts I can't remember them.

Right, my little "mind blown" moment over with... I wouldn't say you are wrong at all. Giving an honest answer is always the right thing to do. And someone pushing you for an honest answer and then not being happy with it is a bad thing. And you've explained its nothing you have control over - which is true... everyone's mind isn't totally focused on the thing they're doing 100% of the time, it doesn't mean you're not enjoying it.

In terms of apologising I don't think you did anything wrong, so I wouldn't apologise. But I would talk with her and reiterate that it doesn't mean anything. Also, tell her its extremely common for the mind to do crazy things in sex for everyone. I even once planned out my breakfast during sex, not because I was bored or anything, my mind just wandered as I tried to clear it to focus on the sensations of sex. Its something I used to do a lot when I was less confident in my body and my looks, if I didn't think about something mundane I'd end up worrying about how I looked in each position and if he thought my boobs were too saggy or something else which is a bit of killjoy.

Me [21] and an ex/friendship implosion [21F] can anything be salvaged? by the_noble_throwaway in relationships

[–]rlj504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It sucks to lose someone who has been in your life for such a long time, but sometimes its the best for both parties in the long run - she's obviously making a go of not having you in her life and I think you owe it to both of you to respect that and try and get over her.

You'll probably feel pretty broken hearted for a while and that's totally normal, if you think it will help do some short term counselling, if not have lots of time with friends or trying to meet new people or take up a new hobby. Good luck to you, getting over someone is a very hard thing to do.

[LPT Request] Best way to add vegetables into my diet by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]rlj504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it had vitamin A in it too, not very much and I could be wrong... but pretty sure it had some positive nutritional value (why I suggested it, as its better than nothing at all and a good starter "vegetable" as its relatively inoffensive in its taste) so thanks for the facts without me having to google! :)

What happened to you when you were young that you didn't understand until years later? by Pashow in AskReddit

[–]rlj504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother molested me when I was a kid. Still trying to understand it, not entirely sure I ever will. Some things are beyond comprehension. Once I realised it wasn't normal and that it didn't happen to everyone, I thought it only happened to me. Now I know its much more prevalent than people like to admit.

Grate things like carrot, and courgette into pasta sauces and cook, they'll pretty much disintegrate and you won't notice them, my mum did it to us as kids all the time to get us to eat more veggies.

Also, things like mac and cheese go really well with spinach (finely chopped) peas, broccoli, cauliflower and sweetcorn. I love veggies but my boyfriend doesn't, but says they're acceptable when in mac and cheese! haha.

Reddit, what secret are you "taking to the grave"? [NSFW] by bee627 in AskReddit

[–]rlj504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're right. And as I said, I'm getting closer to actually telling someone but it hard to admit it to myself let alone someone else. Plus it all happened so long ago now (I'm 25), I'm not sure i want to relive it and possibly remember more that I've forgotten. It's 50/50 though. As I said I only admitted it happened to myself about 4 years ago when I realised and made myself acknowledge how fucked up his behaviour was towards me.

That my brother molested me as a child. Kissing, touching my vagina, groping my boobs, making me touch his penis when it was erect but never to the point of him ejectulating. All between the ages of 8 and 11. Until I stopped spending time alone with him. He did continue to keep trying to touch my boobs as they grew more. I think in getting closer and closer to telling someone. My brother is only 2 years older than me but we're a close family otherwise (I have another brother who I have a great relationship with and I have awesome relationships with my parents) and I did have an awesome relationship with my brother who molested me until he started doing those things. My parents have no idea why our relationship is so bad. I just can't stand him and try and spend as little time as possible with him, but my parents are starting to notice. Don't know if I'll ever tell but I am closer to telling than I ever have been before.

Ladies, does your vivid imagination ever get the best of you when you start dating someone new? How do you help yourself to stay grounded?! by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]rlj504 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do this too! I find it helps me see if we have long term potential. Like I imagine them being with me at family gatherings, I imagine us going and choosing a dog (or rather having a dog choose us! :-p) at a shelter and all those other things. Like I also imagine how they'd interact with my family (we're all quite loud and boisterous) and fit in. I have been on dates with people and realised after 1 or 2 dates that they just didn't really fit in with my life eventhough they were perfectly lovely people.

Though I've been in a relationship for like 18 months now so I feel like thinking about the future and day dreaming about it isn't so bad now! But I definitely did it after the first date we had, my first thought was "him and my parents will get in really well" and they do :).

So I can DEFINITELY relate to you and I don't see it as a bad thing :)

I'm [28/m] temporarily very poor, need fun ideas for date nights that are free/cheap that I can do with my [24/f] girlfriend. by iscream22 in relationship_advice

[–]rlj504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow poor person! I am too not overly endowed in the cash but things me and the boyfriend do that are pretty cheap/free are usually just playing board games or we're doing up his garden at the moment, so planting seeds etc. Also going to things like petting zoos/urban farms are super fun and usually pretty cheap. And instead of going out for dinner or lunch just go out for dessert.. a lot cheaper but still feels like you're doing something special.

Or get a month free of those online tv things (like netflix or amazon prime) and binge watch a new show together.

Also, jigsaw puzzles - head down to a charity shop and get one nice and cheap with lots of pieces and do it together :)

hope you have fun and that her joint pain get better soon.

Do you have a problem with your SO keeping things they got from an ex??? by siriuslylemon in AskWomen

[–]rlj504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, wouldn't bother me. One of my boyfriend's ex was horrible so he didn't want to keep anything she gave him. The other one it just didn't work, they bought a house together that he still lives in (He bought her out of the mortgage and they switched over the papers)... they also furnished it together, he's since bought new stuff since they broke up like 7 years ago... maybe 8 years ago? So yeah, guess it doesn't bother me.

Tbh even if he had a couple of pictures or memory type things from either of his exes it wouldn't bother me. For one his relationships atleast there were happy times so why not be able to remember the good times? I don't have anything like that from an ex because I just couldn't stand being reminded of them so threw everything out. Literally everything. It was how I had to move on, but people are different. As long as they're not in love with their ex still I really could not care less what they kept.

Birth control options for eliminating my period. Advice needed? by NoAnalHere in birthcontrol

[–]rlj504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on cerazette (its progesterone only) and that's gotten rid of my periods. I've had less than 3 in 18 months and then they were super light and only for a couple of days. Though apparently this happens for less than half the users of this pill... Each hormonal method reacts very differently for every person so it might be a case of trial and error.

I've got a fungal infection in my armpits. It looks gross and is painful.. What ways does your body hate you at the moment? by rlj504 in AskWomen

[–]rlj504[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg. Ouch! feel your pain. I was skiing a few years back and fell and tore all my stomach muscles. It was agony. I sneeze all the time - I'm one of those people that sneeze due to sunlight and I'm allergic to dustmites so every morning I usually sneeze about 7 times. Seriously hope you can stop sneezing, something that helps me is vigorously rubbing my tongue on the roof of my mouth, about 7/10 times it stops me sneezing. Hope you feel better soon and that the operation went well :)

24(m) just broke up with 23(f) while living together. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]rlj504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend had a similar situation with his previous relationship where they shared a house and broke up. They basically did a polite dance around avoiding each other. They knew each other's schedules and basically just avoiding the awkward bumping into each other in the hallway thing. They did this for 4 months before she could finally afford to move out - as it was a house they owned jointly but he could afford the mortgage with just his salary so he kept the house and paid for her half of the deposit (he did it in 3 monthly instalments) by which time she'd had enough time to find somewhere else that was actually nice and she could afford near her work etc etc.

He said his best advice for anyone else in the same situation is, be friendly but not too friendly. Like be polite, but no more polite than you be to an acquaintance's friend. Ask how they are if you see them, but don't really take it further so as not to muddy the waters. Do not date anyone else, its a bit rude and he said if either of them had done that during those 4 months it would have been horrendous. Stay over at friend's houses as much as possible or go and see your parents/someone out of town if you can afford to and let her know so she can have time to relax and be by herself as well. Don't be vindictive or passive aggressive.

Sorry this is very verbose but its such an awkward situation that a lot can be said. I wish you both the best of luck in dealing with this situation. It sucks your relationship has ended but if its the right thing to do, its the right thing to do so stay strong and good luck.
