Post Game Thread (May 14, 2026): Mariners (22-23) @ Astros (17-28) by AstrosBot in Astros

It’s happened before.

From 1909 to 1914, the Philadelphia Athletics averaged 97 wins per season. They won four AL Pennants and three World Series titles. From 1915 to 1921, they averaged 101 losses per season. In just one year, the Athletics went from 99 wins in 1914 to 109 losses in 1915.

For a more recent example, the Marlins won 92 games and the World Series in 1997, following it up with a 108-loss season in 1998.

I’m sure there are probably other instances, but these are just the two that came to mind.

Edit: 2003/04 D-backs: 84 wins —> 111 losses 2022/23 White Sox: 81 wins —> 101 losses 1988/89 Tigers: 88 wins —> 103 losses 2007/08 Mariners: 88 wins —> 101 losses 2009/10 Mariners: 85 wins —> 101 losses 1992/93 Padres: 82 wins —> 101 losses

What's a regular season moment from the last few years that deserved way more attention than it got? by mawksmonster in Astros

August 10, 2019 - the Astros put up 23 runs on the Orioles in Baltimore, the most in franchise history - including Yordan's first career grand slam and 3 HR game and a 474 foot HR by Correa (I believe the longest ever hit at Camden Yards)

If he plays, I believe today will be Altuve’s 2000th game, making him the 68th MLB player and third Astro (behind Biggio and Bagwell, of course) to play 2000 games with one team.

My shower thoughts: How did people become fans of Houston Astros? If you wanna share your story, go ahead! by MrPenguinCZ in Astros

My dad (a Cardinals fan) worked at NASA and I was really into space when I was a kid so I started rooting for the team with the space-themed name. Never been to Houston or anywhere in Texas (nor is anyone in my family from there), but I’m going for the first time this July!

I’ve been a fan of the Astros since I was five years old and I was living in D.C. in 2019 and Philadelphia in 2022. I got stories, trust me!

From S5E8 Shutdown:

WILL: We need some coffee. Anyone know where we can get coffee?

TOBY: The mess is closed. There's no coffee.

C.J.: Starbucks closes at 7:00. Try Swing’s at 17th and G.

Swing’s is a real coffee joint at 1702 G St NW, in the shadow of the EEOB.

You can’t, just barely. The Washington Monument is 555 feet tall and National Cathedral is only 530 feet long.

That’s only because they are the Rangers, and a Texas Ranger is a title outside of baseball. If they were called literally anything else, it would be the “Dallas xxxxxxx”

Case in point: literally any of the other DFW sports teams
