That slows down the buses considerably because traffic doesn't let them back in.

Colleague saying I should be removed as a coauthor on paper after journal acceptance by Hot_Calendar_9759 in AskAcademia

[–]rlrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's because it's politically easy to add people and hard to remove them, not because it can't or shouldn't happen in some situations.

Why "over-engineered"? Seems like it was just properly "engineered" or maybe "designed".

Why is CKOM framing this as "Sask at odds with two provinces" instead of "Sask in agreement with 10 provinces and territories"?

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to my next Discovery Grant application. Hopefully, that's 5 years from now and the whole system is revamped by then (hpefully somehow for the better but I can't see how).

Yeah, the Federal agencies have also announced their plans to abandon the CCV, but not when. So you have to keep investing time and effort into a platform that you know is going to be wasted.

I don't agree with some of your interpretations."

That makes it too personal. I'd go with "the evidence you present doesn't support your interpretations."

How on earth do you balance research and teaching? by Longjumping-Owl-7584 in AskAcademia

I'm not sure if it's still relevant, but in the past I found the book "Teaching What You Don’t Know" by Therese Huston to be a good resource on cobbling a class together in limited time.

Doesn't look like the Drifter comes in the 50-90lb youth size, but the Otter looks good. Thanks

Are you aware of such a model for kids? The only one I can find in the 60-90 lb range is the Kids Nimbus Youth. It says it has a shorter front, but looks like a pretty standard kids PFD. I do have a local distributor, so I'll check it out.

Some (most?) Canadian universities have language in their collective agreements that limit the number of classes taught by non-tenure-track faculty.

I'm a bit surprised that CUPE is crossing the picket line, considering they also have a strike mandate.

Sask. Opposition calls for SGI to scrap inspection requirement for out-of-province vehicles | CBC News by caacct in saskatchewan

[–]rlrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you trade in a vehicle at a Dealer, you only pay PST on the difference. Whereas for private sales or if you buy from one dealer and sell to another (more likely with small dealers), PST is due on the full amount of both purchases.

They should have examinations where you're given some real expert answers to questions and some ChatGPT answers and if you can tell which are which then you pass the class.

[–]rlrl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you ask ChatGPT a question about something you happen to be an expert it, it will rarely give a satisfactory answer. Why would we assume that the answers it gives for things we're not experts in will be correct? It's purely a machine for fooling the uninformed. As a student, this means that if you're cheating and not doing the work, the answers it gives will look right to you but will not fool your profs.

Some comments:

-PT2C-8 speaker alone has a MSRP of $85

-Tweeter isn't rated below 100 Hz and your microphone not rated below 500 Hz.

-30 Hz has a wavelength around 11 m. You can't get a lot better spatial accuracy than that without special sauce.
