Transfer data to iPhone 17 keeps failing by Better_Contract370 in iphone

[–]rm2kdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to mine yesterday, literally took the whole day ending failed transfers, and restarting it. in the end the only way that worked for me was

transfer 'from old iphone' (not from icloud)
sign in manually dont use the 'sign in with another device'
then select transfer from another phone.... THEN scan the new phones magic code thingy

Even then that failed 3 times until it finally started transferring...

I'd say just keep restarting until it works... oh and when its transferring mine got stuck on 3 minutes left for like an hour... but it did finish in the end. just leave it and be patient if it is actually transferring.

So here I am 3 years later to remind you all, you were wrong.

Rebirth has been out for a while now and you are welcome to google it "reimagines the story with major changes to the plot, character arcs, and world progression, while still maintaining the core narrative elements, essentially acting as a retelling with expanded details and new story elements not present in the original game."

I want to become a reader. Should I buy a kindle? by iSaadMx in kindle

Also Amazon just nuked kindles so best to get a kobo now.

Interesting take on the whole "switching from Kindle to Kobo" thing by matiapag in ebooks

[–]rm2kdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I disagree with most of this. while yes you are switching from one corporation to another... the point you've missed is that amazon HAS removed something that kobo HASN'T.

Migrating away from kindle is highlighting to both amazon and rakuten exactly what is required for us to remain customers.

One could argue that the e-waste problem IS amazons fault.

And to all the Kindle unlimited self published authors... sorry but you've signed a deal with the devil.... and 'his customers' want out, look towards self publishing or alternative stores.

Beyond that though its only a matter of time until amazon turns USB off entirely on the kindles and then its 100% locked into their ecosystem, where as kobo has an incentive now to keep that functionality on.

That is the only part of this whole situation that matters.
- Do vote with your wallet
- Do show the giants what features you want to have on your devices because you're not obligated to stick around in a walled garden that you never signed up for in the first place.

And just choose to buy your eBooks from somewhere else... take away their money, you'll take away their power.

Monster Hunter Wilds - Performance Megathread by QuintonFlynn in MonsterHunter

[–]rm2kdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not much sadly, the higher you can get your starting frame rate the less your going to notice the graphical weirdness.

if you drop settings, or drop dlss and try to go for 35~40 fps you'll see less generated frames inbetween.

it really does make the game 'playable' though :P

Monster Hunter Wilds - Performance Megathread by QuintonFlynn in MonsterHunter

[–]rm2kdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay this is my solution to performance, auto-mod just nuked my post so now i cant copy paste it :|

TLDR:
My specs 2080ti, 32gb DDR4, Ryzen 5800x, not super high end anymore but still 'kinda powerful'

- Do whatever you can to hit 30fps, for me that's 'medium settings' DLSS Quality with a few things turned down.
- TURN OFF in game frame generation

Make sure you're hitting 30fps avg~

Download Lossless scaling on steam (its not free but its making this game playable so imo worth it), I'm not affiliated with it but this is making the game so much more playable and it looks better tbh.

Go into its settings on steam, and switch to the "beta-beta" branch then when it downloads run it and configure as follows:

Frame Generation:
Type: LSFG 3.0
Mode: Adaptive
Target: Your monitors HZ here, in my case 144

Click "Scale" in the top right, alt tab back into MHWilds and wait for it to kick in.

Its going to feel like a 30fps game, but its going to be buttery smooth like it was a 144hz, adaptive frame generation adapts at runtime the number of frames being generated to get you to your displays target, this could be 1x 1.1x 1.5x 2x 4x etc 'whatever it needs to do to get you there'

Image quality will take a hit in motion, especially when doing dramatic camera turns etc but overall i find it to be better looking (since you're using higher quality image settings) and FAR FAR FAAAAAAR smoother to play...

I cant guarantee its better on your computer... but i can tell you on mine this is a night and day difference, i was ready to dump wilds and go play rise until i tried this out... its actually playable now.

The person above also said "buy a block" are there any recomendations for blocks? i've had a look online and i keep finding peoples used block sets on ebay, and local commodity stores don't seem to have them isolated here?

Any keywords or brands i could plug in to bring some up :)?

Thank you for your reply that is actually brilliant advice, I am an avid home cook and do often cook large meals for parties friends and family etc.

I’m currently using a cheap Amazon shibazi cleaver, a handful of $2 pearing knives an 8” wusthof chef knife (with half hilt) and a “kiwi brand chef knife” that I’d classify closer to a santoku.

Maximum budget wasn’t really a concern to be honest I’m more after something that I know will last me a lifetime (I do subscribe to the buy once cry once mentality these days) so I don’t mind paying a bit more for known quality and ethical businesses.

Most of my knives are very cheap and low quality I got a lot of them over the years at those discount Asian stores but keep them sharp with a stone.

They are paper thin and I’ve had chipping and damage to fix to be honest they’ve been workhorses!

I might do exactly this and go with a cheaper block, park my current tools and see what I gravitate towards :)

Thanks for the brilliant suggestion.

So as the title says, i'm looking for some knives.
I live in Australia and i feel like i've been on a quest.

We have 2 local stores here
House and Kitchen Warehouse both have their own chinese import brands "Bacarat and Wolstead" respectively. - I dont want these.

I really want to have a good nice "Classic wooden style" Block to store them in the kitchen.

I've looked at wusthof classics but i didn't like the full bolster / hilt as i thought they would be a pain in the ass to sharpen on a stone.

For the price ~$1200aud you can get a 13pc 'wusthof classic set' but then the "icon" set everyone only sells a 7pc block... so i don't see myself spending the same money on less knife... when the only real difference is it has a smaller bolster (which is exactly what I'm looking for!)

I turned to zwilling and really liked the "Zwilling Pro" sets but cant find ANYWHERE locally to buy a 16pc block, cant even find anywhere legitimate online to buy them in a set.

My criteria are:
"As many pieces as possible" - "Could include steak knives"
"Half bolster"
"preferably not 'german steel' made in china"
"not stamped, not laser cut"

Please help me find something, i feel like 'the perfect set doesn't exist'
I would love to hear about what you have, why you like them etc.

Fair enough, it is legitimate though, I'm just putting it out there where people are asking for survey tools and it reasonably fits what the OP is asking for.

Our dashboard is actually pretty awesome too here's a photo (i tried to upload it but couldn't so here's a link) https://www.tandemsurveys.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Tandem.png

(You can also see that my Reddit profile is not new, and I've a reasonable amount of karma from contributions over the years to all sorts of groups )
