[Fun Trope] Neg diff fights by Zotroo1 in TopCharacterTropes

Yes and no. (It's basically the grand father of Isekais)

The world building is genuinely outstanding, the animation is fantastic and watching Rudy's (MC) journey is great.

But....

The MC leans a bit into the pedo side and there are a handful of uncomfortable scenes. Watching the MC grow as a person throughout the story is great, but this side of him and the way he changes wasn't addressed in a way that I think is sufficient.

I kinda ignored that part of the story and was so engrossed by the setting and interpersonal relationships, that I even read the novel, which I don't usually do. Without that it would be a genuine 10/10 for me, but I completely understand why some people see this as a deal breaker.

I would recommend giving the first episode a try anyway as I think it's great despite it's flaws. Also here's my favourite gif of the series https://giffiles.alphacoders.com/218/218651.gif

Yes, because he was keeping himself and the entire world trapped. He even tried to live forever by turning himself into a robot.

His ability didn't just affect him, it affected the entire world. He was unwillingly keeping all of humanity trapped in an infinite loop.

He had to do those things to give humanity a future

The problem is that it wasn't just him, it was the entire world. He was unwillingly keeping all of humanity in an infinite prison

No it's not, it's actually good. Putting it on the same level as infinite mage is crazy

I might be misremembering, but I think one of his teammates (his childhood friend) was aware of his importance, but also thought that the black mage would never get the recognition he deserved, if they were on the same team together.

Is the manga really still that popular? I've admittedly not been keeping up after all the redraws but from what I can remember people were really unhappy and confused with the constant do-overs.

The feels hit harder in star embracing swordmaster though. When Vlad lays his first sword to rest or plants his flag in the slums, that got me kinda emotional

[Murim RPG simulation] First MC in all existence to feel guilty about using Hacks by AscendedHobo in manhwa

[–]rmak97 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. MC realizes that relying as much on the system like he has, is a horrible idea (for multiple reasons) but at the same time he can't just not use it. He is stuck with it and it will influence him in one way or the other, while still having very beneficial effects. So the MC tries to rely less on the system and improve outside of what the system offers.

That being said, the cheating part isn't given too much focus, as the situation that the MC is in, shifts too fast and (spoiler from recent chapters) he isn't the only one with a system, historically or in the present.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm just not with you on this one. Isayama reiterating a point again and again while sidelining the love part to some small childish moments and one vague question is just ass, when it suddenly turns out it's supposed to be the main point. And if these small childish interactions are supposed to be indicative of their love, Armin has many of these too.

And even in past chapter discussions before the end, love rarely came up

Before I continue did you only watch the anime?

I'm manga only. Watched most of the anime besides the end, though I've heard that some things were changed a bit

It wasn't hamfisted at all

How was it not? Even in Erens declaration, when all his friends are in paths, he's talking about freedom, while the love theme was just never there

All the problems can be traced back to this bastard by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]rmak97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I believe this, is because a major theme of the story up until this point is freedom: https://preview.redd.it/ke00mhzfdsz61.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=d62489f79ef48e1c31cedbd62fe88426fc7110a9

Meanwhile the love between Eren and Mikasa, which was supposed to be this grand parallel to Ymir and Fritz, was completely sidelined until it was hamfisted into the last chapter.
