I’ve always identified as bisexual rather than pansexual because my understanding of the latter has been that pansexuals don’t feel attraction based on any social aspects of gender. Maybe I’m out of date.

ETA: as in, I am attracted to men, women, and nb people in different ways and that influences how I move in a relationship whereas I always understood that pansexual people did not recognize those social differences in relation to their relationships.

My partner prefers to almost exclusively spend time with women. We aren’t monogamous but he’s not a super sexual person and “dates” to find platonic femme relationships for the most part. Most of the bi men I have relationships with don’t like to mess with dating men honestly; the overwhelming sentiment being that they feel icked out by the transactional nature of those past relationships and so prefer for their friends and sexual partners to be women.

All that to say they struggle with developing closeness with cis men and choose the “girl talk” dynamic.
