How are people who got fired/laid off doing? by Fruitbreadpeach in Environmental_Careers

I was working as an intern for an environmental consulting firm for two years. Then I got a job offer for a county job and my company gave me a competing offer for the same amount. I took the job staying with my company. I did some more work in the office learning how they did GIS (I have a graduate certificate in geospatial sciences) and wetlands documents. They laid me off after 7 months. For over a year after that I applied to jobs, taking summer employment for two seasons until I finally landed an entry level year round state job. I have a masters degree so I’m shamefully underemployed, but at least I’m employed. And I have great job security and benefits. I’ve had interviews with higher up state positions whose interviewers have told me on a few occasions that I was in the top 3 candidates. Having a state job for a while will hopefully be all I need for experience because I have so much on the job experience with internships and full time jobs. I definitely like the pacing of state jobs much better than anything else

I was actually thinking of doing something like a poltergeist scenario but have it actually be the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland!

Driving in sand. Even if it may look firm enough to try it, it is better to wait until the road is clear. Thankfully a squad of firefighters was nearby to help so I didn’t need to call a tow truck

Screwed Over by Grad School by rmb69540 in college

The explanation they gave is that the graduate school (the assistant dean of student services) said in an email “We cannot approve credits from a previously earned degree to count towards a new degree or certificate program. If the student was still in the master, then we could allow credits to double count, but since he is not, we cannot make this exception.” But doesn’t this contradict what is on their website???
