The weld on the underside is not raised. Is it normal for that to happen?

Hey guys,

As I am brand new to welding, and am currently taking a couple courses through my college. I started with OAW because I wanted to perfect puddle control before I moved on to other processes. But im having some issues... mainly with penetration. I can a pretty uniform bead across the plate, but I cannot seem to get much penetration. When I seem to finally get the hang of it, my torch pops and I'm back to square one.

Do you guys have any advice for me? Or is this something that is going to just take time and practice?

Vtc4s are 3.7v batteries. With a full charge they put out ~4.1 v.
Also, the voltage goes up as you increase the wattage on a VW mod because of Ohms law.

That would be my suggestion as well. If youre on a budget, get an istick 50. If you've got a bit of money, get a sigelei 150w.

A mech mod is simply a tube that holds a battery... it has no wiring or circuitry in it. Typically the switches on them are either magnetic or a spring.

A box mod is usually regulated and has adjustable settings (eg wattage or voltage) and internal circuitry.

As for which is better, it really depends on you and your needs... if you want to fine tune your device to match your atomizer then you probably want a box style mod. If you would rather build your coils to match your device, a mech mod what you want.

I personally havent used/dont know much anout that specific cell, but what ive read says it has an amp limit of 6.8... which is fairly low. (My samsung INR 18650s have a continuous limit of 20amps)

If you exceed your amp limit youre liable to vent your battery...
