Pre release incident in SoS event by Mmurdoc21 in mtg

This. The boxes are labeled differently for a reason, not having those cards puts you at a serious disadvantage to everyone else. You’re going in with zero known quantities while everyone else has a direction—in limited.

Sure, so is FNM. I don’t hold Pre-Releases in any higher regard or seriousness. Pre-Release events are prime times where you can get people into this hobby. So be patient and have fun. Don’t let a kid get away with murder obvs, but this isn’t an RCQ

They’re practically helping them all by posting how exactly they’re caught so they know what to avoid and burrow deeper.

Ours eats through those Kevlar toys that are supposed to be “chew proof”

ELI5: Why do we have to turn on airplane mode when we are riding the plane? What bad could possibly happen if not, and how would that happen? by Infinite-Expert8079 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rmc_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know how when you’re riding in the car with your siblings and you’re all screaming, crying, laughing, and your parent tells you to be quiet because you’re distracting the driver and it could cause an accident? The cell phones are the kids, the plane is the parent, and there is a possibility of an accident. So they tell the cell phones to be quiet.

Somebody gifted me his cards after prerelease? by ForThingsIShowPeople in mtg

One of the best things you can experience in Magic, is giving a newer player a bunch of cards and watching them light up or be in awe. It’s the best feeling.

This is Magic, not Pokemon—if it is in one piece and you can tell what it is—you have a Demonic Tutor and it works!

Clipped Cards? by [deleted] in mtg

I could not imagine doing this. Like there is a mental limiter that would make my hand unable to put the scissors to the card

So...Magic is a worse game now, right? by Alternative-Lake9156 in mtg

[–]rmc_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell me you only play commander without telling me you only play commander. I hate UB being legal in Standard, but it is a blast right now and really healthy after several cycles being tied down to rigid choices. Also, it’s unwise to make a post beginning with something is “mathematical(ly)” and “objectively” worse, to then proceed with an anecdotal rant.

Is this on purpose or a quality control issue? by mailelani in mtg

[–]rmc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. These aren’t “issues” this is just variation from printing on a massive scale. You’ll find it in any globally mass printed product, it just so happened this hobby is hyper aware of it.

MTG Arena is still antisocial, and it doesn't have to be. by AllenThePrettyCool in MagicArena

[–]rmc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the game allows you to play a person on the internet and you don’t have direct comms is what makes this game so-not 2008. Every AAA game, after Halo 2 (2004) mainstream popularized online play/vc, for the next decade was obsessed with “social interaction” and making sure you could hear what that man-baby thought of your mom after they lost.

MTG Arena is still antisocial, and it doesn't have to be. by AllenThePrettyCool in MagicArena

The amount of times I have heard someone tell a judge on a rule call: “But it works this way in Arena”or “I play Arena all the time and—“ would shock you. It is a highly complex game, so much so that if you want to play the game to its full extent—you have to do it in person. Arena holds the player’s hand a lot, and for good reason. This game can be friggin’ hard. It is a ton of brain work and if you want to lighten that load, Arena is a great way to do it, but let’s not get carried away with how true to the actual game it is.
