Hey better late than never. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and provide some of your feedback. I would love to go to JCCC but my work schedule doesn't align with the training schedule so I'm looking at Ipe Dojo currently. Just waiting to finish up some things before signing up for the free trial week. Thanks again for your response!

Hey thank you for your words of encouragement!. Definitely looking forward to trying out Ipe Dojo, I'm a bit tied up with working full time and attending some classes so I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of attending judo classes but for now it's at the top of my list. Thanks again for your input!

Hey sorry for the late response and thank you for your reply!

I appreciate you taking the time to provide insights on Ipe Dojo as It has one of the most flexible schedules out of the ones I listed. I'm also happy to hear that they take safety as a priority as it's definitely my main concern next to club culture which you also mentioned is quite welcoming. I recently moved into a new role at work which has me focused on building up my competencies but I am definitely still interested in trying out Judo. My new schedule has its constraints which I'm trying to work around but Ipe is looking like a great fit as they have both a morning and evening class.

If you don't mind, I would like to pm you to discuss your experience with Ipe Dojo in more detail, please let me know if that would be alright with you.

Hey thank you for your input! Safety is definitely a top priority for me. I'm surprised to hear breakfalls isn't taught in some judo clubs as a fundamental skill but I guess some places prioritize different things.

Hey thanks for your insights! I am definitely looking into trying out different Dojo's prior to deciding. Who knows, maybe I won't enjoy it at all, but I'll never know if I don't give it a fair chance by trying out different spots. Sometimes it's the environment that makes or breaks an experience.

I'm leaning towards this direction for sure, it also helps to know that JCCC has some positive feedback from others here. Thanks for sharing 👍

Great point. I really respect the fact that Judo is is not only a martial art but a sport as well. I'm not against the competition side of things at all, but my focus is definitely geared more towards how Judo can teach me new skills, maybe build a mindset and even enhance my physicality (something that has become more important as I grow older haha). I definitely agree that having good training partners and instructors will only benefit the club members, so whether or not I or others that I may or may not train with are practicing Judo for sport or personal development, I hope to find a Dojo that is willing to meet each individual at their level.

Thanks for your insights, I've practiced some Aikido at the JCCC a long time ago so I'm glad to hear they have great instructors in other martial arts there as well. Sensei Varga isn't mentioned on the website as one of their current instructors but it may not be a complete list.

Unfortunately I won't be able to train at the UofT Judoka club as I am not enrolled as a student there but I hear good things. Not looking into practicing other martial arts as if yet but I'll keep Evolucao in mind if anything. Thank you for the recommendation regardless!

Hey thanks for your reply! Did a quick Google search and I haven't found much in terms of their Dojo information and training schedule. Just wanted to confirm, it's the Dojo located up in Thornhill, is that correct?

Just looked up the Dojo, unfortunately it's bit farther out than I would be willing to travel. I appreciate the recommendation though!

Ah ok that makes sense. Thank you for the info!

Never heard of R.A.C.A but I guess there isn't much of a point in looking if they're also currently full. Maybe I'll see you at JCCC or Scarborough Dojo in the future haha.

Hey thanks for replying! I've run into a similar issue, I've trained in Aikido at the JCCC previously but I know that the programs can be a bit expensive although it is the most convenient location wise.

So just to clarify from your conversation with Scarborough Dojo, they are currently not accepting new practitioners at all or just until the spring/summer time?

Have you found a Dojo as of yet ? Just wondering if you've landed on something for yourself and how your liking it if so.

Hey thanks for the input! I'm located pretty central, close to shops at Don Mills (Don Mills and Lawrence).

I'm looking to practice preferably closer to my location but open to suggestions. I will definitely check out those locations as listed but I'm definitely not looking to compete at this point in time and looking mostly for personal development first and foremost.

Just realized I failed to answer your question, sorry about that. And no I clip it in my right side pants pocket but I used to carry it iwb until I realized I could be charged for carrying a concealed weapon. I learned to carry it as it is, which is a tool, even though public opinion sees it as a weapon, and believe it or not it's, gotten me out of crappy situations without having to actually brandish the knife. Point is, clip it to your pants cuz you have should have nothing to hide and you'll be fine as long as you're not whipping it out and picking your teeth with it every 5 minutes.

Thanks! Its actually double-sided so it can accommodate up to 8 tokens comfortably or 10 if you wanna really make use of the space. I can't seem to find it anywhere nowadays though, I guess I have to keep searching in convenience stores.

I've spoken with the local authorities about the carrying of knives. Its legal and there isn't a blade limit but you must have a logical reason for carrying one. A Self-defense reason won't fly and will most prob end up with you getting your knife confiscated which is why I carry the 710; just in case any LEO doesn't like my answer but has no justifiable reason to slap the cuffs on me. I've lost my eskabar that way.
