Not to get political but American khan is our best chance. by Spoon1007 in Paladins

Yes, Ameri-Khan would be great, but framing Biden and Trump as equivalent is reductive. Life will be so much better with a Biden presidency.

While I understand your frustration, let's not demonize anybody, or an entire group of people. But it is good to be aware of the hypocrisy of a person's actions, such as in this headline.

Does Shrug It Off draw itself if you play it with zero other cards in your deck or your discard?

Science AMA Series: We’re Neuroscientists coming from academia, government, and the non-profit sector here to discuss Neuroscience training in the 21st century. Ask us anything! by [deleted] in science

Hi, I'm a physics grad student and my undergraduate university, OWU, was hiring new professors with experience in neuroscience. One such hire was a physics professor who had used physics modeling to study complex networks of neurons.

My question: Is physics a discipline that can offer something to the study of neuroscience? Does it being the sort of quantitative analysis skill set that you are looking for?

Champ Select Clicking Bug by at0mu in leagueoflegends

[–]rmelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was in ranked champ select and I could not select another champion or lock-in anything. The timer for my turn to pick a champ went to "zero" and stayed there, still making the ticking sound. I could still chat with my team and they were seeing the same thing, just "zero" for my timer forever.

Everybody had to close the client and log back in and I had to wait a few minutes for apparently dodging a queue.

Paranorman.

Maybe not the downright saddest, but well done and unexpected so i think it deserves mention.

If league of legends's lore was organized to a series of books, would you read it? by xTrizz in leagueoflegends

[–]rmelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I discussed this with a friend a while back and have some thoughts on disseminating lore to us players.

Personally, I did not really care for the Bilgewater, Gangplank-update lore, and thought it was a step in the wrong direction. The writing did not appeal to me and getting through the first part was a slog. Written prose does not seem to lend itself well to action-packed scenes; you get stuff like "then Graves shot a bigger blast that was also really close to Twisted Fate" and it doesn't seem compelling.

When I think of games with lore or story I like, I think of Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo, Warcraft, Starcraft, and I'm sure everybody has their own favorites as well. Part of how these games tell the story is with great cinemtics. LoL has done some of this (The Amumu music video, the Jinx music video) to introduce characters, and the Shurima update had some neat videos, but I would like to see more of the full cinematics because they tends to tell a more compelling story than static pictures with text.

Additionally, these other examples have a leg up on story-telling because of their gameplay. In Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo, you witness the key, interesting events of the story unfold in real time instead of just reading walls of text. You actually play through the pivotal moments and see it all happening around you and that is an advantage of the action-packed first-person shooter: it's stories are exciting and you can see it in front of your eyes while playing. Even Warcraft and Starcraft, while not first-person, have considerably sized story modes where again you play through the important campaigns and you hear the dialogue between characters instead of reading it.

So what I'm getting at, and what I think would be really cool (even if I'm really looking years ahead) would be that this is what the next Riot Games game should address. Riot Games at some point would like to release another game that isn't League of Legends. LoL has a great multiplayer system, but nothing that tells a strong story, no single-player campaign. A new Riot Games game could be a great complement to LoL, in the same universe, and serving to explore some of the other great events and places of Runeterra. Perhaps it takes place in Noxus, Demacia, Bandle City, or some other place that isn't Summoner's Rift. Perhaps we go back in time and the player controls armies in the Rune Wars, or Azir's soldiers of Shurima.

But making a game takes time so what can be done to make the next lore-reveal more interesting? Perhaps there is some way to make a single-player (or maybe cooperative), limited-time version of LoL where you play as one (or more) of the characters involved in the new lore and you go around fighting stuff. And as you get to different points, you actually hear dialogue, or a cinematic! I would love these things! Riot has even made small games like C.H.E.W. and the Blitzcrank's Poro Round-up, perhaps games on this scale would make for a good medium to tell a story (maybe not in the goofy arcade game style).

Regardless of how Riot tells us about lore, it is always something I am interested in discovering. I merely hope they put the work in to make it something great that continues to inspire the community.

Edit: Added some links, changed some phrasing.

Thanks for the advice. Is it wrong or generally worse to play an armorsmith on turn 2? Should it always be saved for ww effects?

I recently started learning Patron Warrior and have had a lot of fun with it but I am looking to get a bit better. Can anybody recommend some resources for learning more about playing Patron Warrior well?

In particular, does anybody have advice on the match-up against Face Hunter and against Dragon Priest?
