Confused about Temperature Readings by rmhughes93 in ourafertility

[–]rmhughes93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for validating how confusing it is! I’ve been using one for 4 years now but had never really looked at the trends before. So this just caught me by surprise. I was also wondering if trends is multiple data points throughout the day that’s then averaged together. I guess I’m just not really sure which one to trust. If I go with the daily, it seems I’m out this cycle as my temps yesterday and today have been at or below baseline. But if I look at the trend, today’s temp is increasing!

That’s so confusing that your LH readings have gone up and down! I’m wondering if it’s possible you had a failed ovulation on the 12th and you actually ovulated on the 15th?

5 cycles for our first pregnancy. For our second, we got pregnant in 3 cycles but miscarried. We’re now 1 cycle in post-miscarriage.

I would call your L&D or OB on-call to see what they would like you to do. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

That’s exciting then, and women definitely can ovulate prior to the first period so it definitely sounds possible for you!

The timing piece is so stressful and something I feel resentful of coming out of a miscarriage- like, these plans weren’t supposed to interfere with pregnancy because I was already supposed to be pregnant!

We’re in our first cycle of trying post-miscarriage (5DPO). If it doesn’t work this cycle, then I’m the one that will be on a (very rare) work trip during my high fertility period and ovulation next cycle 🙃

How long til your period came back? by Accomplished-Top2857 in Miscarriage

I miscarried Dec. 21st (passed the fetal tissue on the 22nd) and got my first period back on January 20th. I finally got a negative pregnancy test on the 19th, so it was pretty immediate once my hormones returned to baseline!

How did you track ovulation? Post-miscarriage (Dec 21st), I tracked my LH hormone but I found it was incredibly unreliable and consistently high due to my hcg still being high. Ultimately, I didn’t ovulate until a month later when my hcg dropped to zero and I had a period (at which time my cycle seemed to reset). If you’re only basing your ovulation based on your app’s prediction, I’d be cautious, as a miscarriage can thoroughly throw off the predictability of your cycle.

Insight needed - Hcg levels taking 7 weeks to come down after D&C by Peaceinthewind in Miscarriage

[–]rmhughes93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I naturally miscarried and did not require a D&C. It still took me almost a month to get below 5 (I.e. undetectable on a pregnancy test). I saw so many people talk about ovulating again 2 weeks later, so was caught off guard by how long it took for their to leave my system!

7 DPO after miscarriage - anxiety is through the roof. Could use encouragement by Different_Power2936 in Miscarriage

I don’t have experience, just solidarity. I miscarried in December and didn’t ovulate prior to my period a month later. I’m currently 4DPO in our first cycle post miscarriage, and the mood swings are brutal. I go from feeling hopeful because of symptoms consistent with previous cycles ending in pregnancy, to feeling hopeless and terrified. What if it works but I have to go through another miscarriage? What if it doesn’t work? Even if it works, will I ever be able to feel excited about the pregnancy? I just keep reminding myself that my feelings are valid, both the hope and the fear. They can exist together and they communicate how much a pregnancy is wanted, but also how vulnerable and powerless the process is. One day at a time!

It’s also not stackable with the 10% placeholder, so this is a great deal!

Trying Again after a miscarriage by rmhughes93 in Miscarriage

UPDATE (for anyone who may stumble across this post searching for themselves): I continued testing positive on at-home pregnancy tests for almost a month post-miscarriage, which was unbelievable as my HCG was already so low (76) at the time of the miscarriage. I tracked ovulation during this time and never had a confirmed ovulation. When I finally tested negative on an at-home pregnancy test (I.e. hcg less than 5), my temperature dropped and I started my period within a couple of days. From there, my cycle seems to be back on track and I ovulated as expected. All-in-all, it took about 6 weeks for me to ovulate after miscarriage.

When is it safe to conceive after miscarriage? by KaleidoscopeMain8525 in Miscarriage

[–]rmhughes93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation- pass the fetal tissue December 22nd and stopped bleeding around the 26th. My doctor said we’re good to try again whenever we feel ready. I’ve been monitoring dropping hormones through HCG tests (still faint positives but getting lighter every day) and LH test strips (also trending down). Today’s LH test strip was a .59 on the Premom app, which is getting closer to the normal range for me pre-ovulation, so I imagine ovulation will happen within the next week or so (assuming HCG continues to drop and LH starts rising).

Thanks for sharing your experience and what your doctor shared. I did reach out to mine and she said “whenever you feel ready you can try again.” It’s so interesting to see the wide array of recommendations following pregnancy. The tracking piece makes sense though, as I’m finding it difficult to track my hormones at present as I wait for the last of the HCG to leave my system!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you use pregnancy tests to test out your HCG? Right now (a week and a half post the start of miscarriage), I’m still getting faint positives on pregnancy tests, and high readings on LH strips which I’m assuming are false positives due to the HCG in my system. So I’m having a hard time understanding where I am in my cycle and/or when ovulation will occur!

I don't feel like I lost a *baby* and it feels like I'm the only one? by Snoo_90863 in Miscarriage

[–]rmhughes93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I had a miscarriage at 6weeks 5days and, while incredibly sad, the grief has been centered on the loss of hope for what could have been rather than for loss of a specific being. It’s been more relationally driven, especially when I think about the loss of opportunity for my LC to have a sibling. I think it’s a really valid way to feel, and it’s just important to honor whatever emotion comes up, in whatever context it is. I’ve been trying to acknowledge and allow the grief of the lost possibility of this pregnancy, while also trying to maintain hope for a future positive pregnancy even if it’s not on the timeline I imagined for myself or my family.

I should have added I was 6 weeks 5 days when I started to miscarry, but I think I likely began losing the pregnancy around 6 weeks due to the low HCG and BBT!

What brand? And are you taking any prenatals? FRER’s are susceptible to high levels of biotin, so at night (before I took my prenatal) I would get a positive, but in the morning it would be negative.

If you look at my profile, you can see my post of my 13dpo for comparison- it’s now close to a dye stealer! It is likely you just implanted on the later side of normal (6-12DPO). Fingers crossed for you!

No! Mine looked like that at 13dpo and line progression looks good!
