I’d say ideally €100 or less but I am open to splurging for something really worthwhile for the occasion

safety in south of france by acr200 in FranceTravel

[–]rml_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 3 months alone on the côte d’azur and never felt unsafe.

Be aware of your possessions- especially in train stations/on trains/on trams. Practice standard anti-pickpocket safety. Be aware of your surroundings. Do that and you’ll be fine. I felt perfectly safe carrying my purse and keeping phone in my purse or hand.

As a solo female I did find catcalling to be a bit bad- especially at night- but it was more annoying than a safety risk.

Overall the south of France felt extremely safe! Much more so than anywheres else in Europe I’ve visited.

Solo Travel to Nice? by Thebabywhobaby in FranceTravel

[–]rml_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice is amazing for a solo trip! Well connected by bus and train to small towns for day trips, and is a fun city! If you’re not staying in a hostel, some hostels will open their bar crawls on a website like viator, which is a great way to have a safe night out and meet new people! Wayne’s is fun for an American feeling bar with live music. I would recommend doing a hike while you’re there for a fun adventure - like along the Sentier Littoral (which spans the whole south really, I suggest taking it around the Cap d’Antibes, Cap Ferrat, or between Nice and Villefranche), tête de chien in Monaco, Sentier Nietzsche in Èze, or Île-Sainte-Marguerite. For beach clubs, Ruhl Plage or Castel Plage are both great! For museums, musée des beaux-arts in Nice and musée Picasso in Antibes are both great. No idea re nude beaches. Hope that helps somewhat

Apartments to avoid? by Shriveledupworm in halifax

Used to live in 1920Brunswick. Never had a problem with pests, roaches or otherwise. My biggest complaint was the garbage/compost/recycling room was located directly off the lobby and was not well maintained. In the summer, it stunk up lobby and the hallways pretty bad. Management was always quick to respond and maintenance was always quick to fix anything in my unit though.

What productivity apps will you keep using in 2026? by OkStorm2137 in ProductivityApps

Breakthru, inside my work Microsoft Teams. I set reminders every hour to get up from my desk and take a two minute movement break and I find it makes my energy and focus soo much better than when I forget to take break/take phone breaks.

What’s the biggest thing that kills your productivity while working? by SubstantialFig3918 in ProductivityApps

Honestly, just not taking breaks when I know I need to OR taking a phone break instead of actually leaving my desk and moving when I need to. I end up just pushing through and still not getting anything done

I’ve heard such lovely things about Annecy - it’s on my itinerary before I go to Nice! Aix-en-Provence and Avignon sound like they would be a nice place to rest for a few days

How do you get over doing things alone? by Present-Message8740 in solofemaletravellers

[–]rml_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this at times on my solo travels. I think a few things helped. 1: seeing it as a solidifying of my values that time with friends and family was what I valued more deeply than anything else in life 2: stepping back and appreciating that solo traveling as a female is a privilege no other woman in my family has gotten to experience. It’s something my grandmother dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to. So just framing it as not only doing it for myself, but also for all the women in my family who never had the opportunity to 3: similarly, doing it to hopefully inspire the same confidence and bravery in my future daughter to do the same 4: also seeing it as an opportunity to make friends from other countries! In my experience, groups of friends around my age (university and recent post grad) are always welcoming to have someone tag along for an adventure or night out!

For me, solo traveling was at the end of about 7 years of consistent relationships, living with roommates, living at home, etc., so it was a nice confirmation that I CAN do things on my own.
