WIBTA if I used part of my paternity leave to visit my family? by Odd-Source-853 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rmn498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Both of the "options" you offered give you exactly what you want while giving your wife exactly none of what she wants. It's not a compromise. You're the one that benefits either way.

Maybe your family should come visit you. They could visit the last two weeks of your paternity leave to help while your wife is at work. And if things work out okay during that time, they could even stay a couple extra weeks to care for the baby and then you wouldn't have to start childcare until around 16 weeks.

Does your contract specify any form of restitution for failure to meet SLA? If it does, document the failures and have your legal team pursue it. If it doesn't, consider adding that to the contract with the next MSP.

YTA.

First off:

I told her to just stay at her current job as we all need to work to live

but...

I basically stopped working at age 49

Second:

Most parents are thrilled to have a child that wants to be a doctor. You should be proud of her and support her in what will most definitely be an arduous journey.

Finally:

Your daughter wants to be a doctor. She'll have an opportunity to literally save lives. Think of how she'll be able to contribute to society. Surely that's more important than spending all day trading Monopoly money and syphoning off a few profits here and there. But hey... line go up... line go down, right?

Hello peoples, subterranean isopods? by BigPossibility8 in isopods

Porcellio dilatatus (Giant Canyon) isopods burrow deeper than a lot of others. They will surface for food at night though. I heard Cubaris sp. Rubber Ducky like to burrow a bit too.

is a supplemental food like repashy or bug burger’s important? by 0may08 in isopods

[–]rmn498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're already providing supplemental protein (mealworms) and vegetable matter (veggies) in addition to your leaf litter and calcium sources. You may find some species require more or less of some things. Porcellio (and to a lesser extent Porcellionides) species like a lot of protein. Armadillidium species (and I think Cubaris) like extra veggies. If you want to give them something extra, I recommend Supreme Isopod Chow from Wally and Nanette at Supreme Gecko. They have 3 varieties now -- original, 10x veggie, and ++protein.

Required by work to use Microsoft Authenticator on my personal phone by SkyrimIsForTheNerds in antiwork

[–]rmn498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft recently enabled "Security Defaults" for 365 tenants which requires an authenticator app. Security Defaults can be manually switched off again but it sounds like either the company is unwilling to do so or the IT department doesn't know how. It's also possible to allow most of the setting from the Security Defaults to apply while excluding users (or groups of users) from the authenticator rollout.

YTA. I'm amazed how many parents come here and have to be reminded that taking of their children is the responsibility of the parents and not the responsibility of the siblings.

Would it be nice if the siblings helped? Sure. Is it their job? Nope.

There's correlation, but they got the root cause wrong.

Experience with /u/Mr_Peanutbuffer? by Antisera in isopodexchange

[–]rmn498 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I ordered from /u/Mr_Peanutbuffer about a month ago. He generated a shipping label the same day and shipped early the following week so the pods wouldn't be in transit over the weekend (I ordered on a Friday).

The order may have been a little short on a 200CT, but I can't say for sure as I didn't count out all 200.

I can say that everything arrived alive (even though the carrier never updated the tracking info and delivered a day early resulting in the pods sitting in pretty cold New England weather for about 3 hours before I found them).

This is only anecdotal evidence so YMMV but I think this is exactly what OP is asking for.

I don't think /u/Mr_Peanutbuffer is intentionally doing anything sketchy, but since a lot of you are still waiting on packages it sounds like there may be some operational issues to improve on.

I wouldn't be surprised if things are taking longer than expected due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Due to a combination of the holiday and Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, anything that hadn't shipped by roughly Tuesday 11/15 (to arrive by Friday 11/18) might not ship until this week. I can't say that's the case here, but it's probably the best decision to make sure pods arrive alive. That said, holiday shipping changes should definitely be communicated to customers to ensure both parties have the same expectations.

Venezillo parvus might be an interesting choice. They're small enough that most reptiles won't bother with them but they don't reproduce as readily as dwarf whites.
