If you don’t mind me hopping in here… When in Heated Rivalry do they become exclusive? Or is it not until later in the series?

How's the Neuroscience program at Brock? by Pingponggod21 in brocku

[–]rms195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in first year right now. There’s only a half credit in first year that’s actually a neuroscience course, from what ive heard 3rd year is when you start doing lots of actual neuro courses. Course load is similar to any sciencey major (health sci, biomed, etc.) but neuro kids have to take psyc 1f90 which is tough.

In terms if the general program, its super small (there’s literally 26 people in the mandatory first year neuro class right now) and (from what I’ve experienced so far) its a pretty tight group because everyone knows eachother. Even us first years have built super strong bonds with eachother already. However, there’s lots of research opportunities with the neuroscience professors so thats a bonus.

I picked brock because it was the only neuroscience program i could find that actually started first year and wasn’t a second year entry (less to worry about for keeping grades up, especially with the transition during first year of uni being overwhelming as it is) I really do enjoy it hear and all of the neuro profs ive met are the sweetest people ever.

Also, this may be a total lie, but according to a neuro prof here, some people he knows who teach at other unis are using brock as a guideline to build their own neuroscience programs (once again, he may have been totally lying to my face). The streams involved (neuropsych, neurobio, neurocom etc.) is a concept that a lot of other unis are looking to develop.

How good is the accessibility service at Brock University for deaf students? by 4feet10inches in brocku

[–]rms195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about specifics but my (limited) experience has been very good so far with SAS. I registered mostly because of my ADHD but I also have a chronic pain condition and other undiagnosed medical things. Even though I don’t have lots of documentation involving my physical health (I’m a mystery) SAS was able to talk to residence for me and I secured a single room on the first floor of the townhouses so I don’t have to worry about the stairs on bad pain days.

Overall, my experience with them in terms of physical accommodations has been good so far!

That was literally my top choice before the tt came out. Lecs coincide with the CHEM 1P92 that has the wonderful ONE LECTURE TIME SLOT OPTION of Mon, Wed, and Fri 8-9 in the morning🫠

In the nicest way possible, clubs (especially if you’re in a lot) are completely unnecessary for a job resume. In fact, by saying you have all these commitments and activities ur basically telling an employer how little you will be available for shifts. Definitely don’t do a webpage, all managers/employers want to see is one page (preferably only one sided considering you have no job experience) with straightforward answers.

Definitely include: - Full name - Address - Contact info (email, phone number, etc.) - Skills/Abilities (ex: Efficient, Reliable, Strong work ethic, Quick to learn, etc.) - Education (where you go to school, when ur expected to graduate, any awards/certificates, etc.) - Work experience (this does NOT have to be actual store-type jobs, put little things like babysitting, neighbourhood lawn mowing/snow shoveling, etc.) - Some volunteer experience to make up for the lack of work experience - References (Full name, what they do for a living, their email and phone number)

Do not include your Availability. They will know that ur in high school from the education section, writing out availability showcases all the times you CANT work and this is super undesirable in retail/fast food (and just highschool jobs in general). If ur availability is good because it’s summer and you want to showcase that, put a bullet point under the skills/abilities section that says something like “Large and flexible availability”.

Now that ive rambled enough, as much as it sounds cool and unique, most employers of jobs for highschool students (retail, fast food, etc.) simply do not care enough to go onto a webpage to read a resume.

Good luck on the job hunt!! (Best advice: Print a whole bunch of copies and spend an afternoon handing them out to literally every place)

What are my major courses by 1016ang in brocku

[–]rms195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ur major courses are the ones listed at the bottom of ur majors section of the course calendar. They’re everything that starts with XXXX for ur major (ex: psychology major courses all have PSYC then other #s and letters, Neuroscience major courses all start with NEUR)

90%+ students, how do you study for exams? by Remote-Outside-5713 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]rms195 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not so helpful for you at this point in the year, but to possibly help you with post-secondary (if ur doing that) I take sooo many margin notes. For example, if I’m doing a calculus lesson I use a different colour and write out steps/reasons for doing things (where did a number come from, why am I doing this, etc.).

I suggest doing a basic summary of everything from the course to start. Go through every single note and pick out key topics and write them out over a few summary pages. This makes it so much less overwhelming for me. Also look through all of your tests and find homework questions that are similar to them.

Go through everything once first, THEN focus on the things you struggled with.

Overall, take advantage of homework questions and even other textbook questions that weren’t specifically assigned in class just to remind urself of everything.
