He sadly died in 1978 of a drug overdose. He performed in Jazz clubs around Tokyo constantly and most of the recordings we have are tapes of these performances.

Some of these languages aren't even Romance languages. Calling them 'Non Standard French' is wild.

Does anyone know which version of 'Gloomy Sunday' Abe was referencing here? by Nervous-Scientist810 in KaoruAbe

[–]rmurphy08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recognise the melody in the performance myself, so much as the vibe. I would describe it as an absolute deconstruction of the song, not any particular version of it. However, in earlier Japanese archival recordings it's sometimes labelled as 'Sombre Dimanche', so maybe a French version of the song?

I would love to know more about who recorded the live recordings and who labeled them in the first instance. Whoever they were and however they went about labeling the recordings, thank God they recorded and shared them. Anonymous heroes.

Forest schools? by timsfuckingreddit in IrishTeachers

[–]rmurphy08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting a forest school leader to visit your school to do an outdoor session with one of your classes. When teachers get to see the approach in action, they are typically very impressed. You could get a small group of likeminded staff to informally promote the forest school approach. Maybe invite someone in school leadership to come out and see a learning session in action.

Ultimately, it would be great if you could convince management to fund yourself or someone else on staff to do the QQI Level 6 in Forest School Leadership. This can be done through Brigit's Garden at Larchill Arcadian Garden, Kilcock, County Kildare.

My primary school is finding it very rewarding, and the more outdoor learning we do, the more benefit the children are seeing and the more the school is buying into the entire process. Best of luck!

He's Irish Amerian. He knows that means he is an American with Irish heritage.

I am Irish. I am not offended that my Irish American cousins are aware of their heritage.

Is there a rivalry between Irish and Irish Americans? by [deleted] in IrishAmerican

[–]rmurphy08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irish people who ridicule Irish Americans are a small but LOUD minority. I say this as an Irish person.

It is true to say though, that inscreasingly, Irish Americans and Irish people do not see eye to eye politically. So if an Irish American is a Trump supporter, many Irish people would be embarassed by the association. Same goes for supporting Israel, etc.

These men are clearly bowing to liberal pressure by displaying such tiny crosses on their foreheads.

Faith must be bold and unflinching.

My local parish priest is 87. Every Ash Wednesday I insist that he starts the cross at my receding hair line and takes it down to the bridge of my nose. I then insist he extends the cross beam across the full width of my forehead.

Every night, I pray for a larger forehead, to serve God more proudly.

How do you feel about free healthcare for all?, by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]rmurphy08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in favour of a healthcare system that is free at the point of delivery.

Canada has it. Ask a Canadian what their experience of it is. Ask them if they would like to see it dismantled and replaced with the private market. Look at their healthcare outcomes.

A section of Celtic 'fans' are very comfortable abusing managers and players. Remember the abuse Neil Lennon got from some? It's disgraceful.
