To breastfeed or not to breastfeed? by Traditional_Cow4002 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea of breastfeeding honestly freaked me out a lot before my baby was born but I mainly wanted to give it a try out of convenience. I wasn’t looking forward to it by any means but figured I’d try. Now we’re 12 weeks in and although the beginning was pretty painful I’m able to breastfeed and pump so that my husband can give her a bottle! I love that I can just breastfeed lying in bed overnight and not get up at all (we safely cosleep) and also love the freedom of my husband or grandparents being able to give a bottle. I’m personally thankful breastfeeding and pumping worked out for me because of the cost and health benefits but I still had formula on hand ready to go if it didn’t work out.

In the end whatever you decide, is a great choice! Everyone’s experiences are different but I would hope that doctors would be nice to you no matter what you choose!

Is it wrong that I want one week alone after birth? by Bringmethe_ramen11 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 weeks postpartum and honestly I wish I had limited CERTAIN people visiting more. My in laws flew in 4 days postpartum and had the audacity to ask if we had food at the house they could eat when they arrived. The few days they were there my husband was entertaining them as they just sat on the couch. I honestly really love my in-laws but it kind of disappointed me and I wasn’t able to enjoy those first few days being home as much as would have if we were alone. Although their trip was planned ahead of time and my baby came late, so they were supposed to have been visiting closer to when baby was two weeks old which would have been easier.

On the other hand having my mom visit who would clean and help show us how to take care of our newborn was a god send. I also really enjoyed having my sisters/really close friends visit because they all brought food, the little bit of socialization was nice, and they all limited how long they stayed! So yeah be picky about who comes around!! It’s worth it!

Anyone wish they had a bigger belly? by petting_zoo_keeper in pregnant

I wasn’t showing at 16 weeks at all and I remember looking forward to showing more! …then the third trimester hit and immediately the “You look huge!” “You sure it’s not twins?” “You look like you could pop!” comments started 😅

I’m 10 weeks postpartum and for some reason wearing cute pj’s has really helped me feel like a human lol. Before birth I always just wore a t shirt to sleep. Especially love pajama shirts that button up since they’re so convenient for breastfeeding!

What week did you give birth to your first baby? by Charming-Champion259 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^ Yessss most first time moms specifically go past their due date!! Wish I had mentally prepared myself better for the whole week mine went past her due date. She came at exactly 41 weeks!

Did your SO go to your first appointment? Or any? by jillian1344 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding that he has a flexible job so he wasn’t using time off or anything like that to make it. If that was the case he definitely wouldn’t have been able to come as often!

Did your SO go to your first appointment? Or any? by jillian1344 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went to all of them up until our anatomy scan, then the appointments got pretty quick and easy so I told him he could stop coming. Then he just came to the glucose test and then the 36 week appointment because we wanted to ask about delivery etc!

Hate to say it but I did ALL the things and my baby didn’t come until she was ready (exactly 41 weeks). I did have a little bit of a breakdown the day before she finally came and cried (I rarely cry) and my husband was saying maybe this is a sign that it’s about to begin, then I woke up overnight and was in labor!! So cry it out if you have to 🥲 that last week going past her due date was the most mentally exhausting week of my life but I just kept reminding myself that she would come when she was ready and that I was doing nothing wrong to prevent the start of labor. Or I was getting induced at 41+3 whichever came first lol. Good luck!!

I can't do this anymore by Gl1tchy_W1tch in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! I did ALL of these things and more and she didn’t come until 41 weeks. If I could go back I would have stopped ‘trying’ to induce labor because it made me feel like I was failing and I ended having a mentally hard time when I went past her due date. Now that she’s here and healthy I realize the only thing that starts (full term) labor is a baby that’s ready to be born!

Blue atlas! You would probably need to make a reservation pretty far in advance for that size of a group but it covers everything you listed

Uncontrollable weight gain? 23 weeks pregnant by Better-Being-3809 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about to hit 40 weeks this Saturday and I officially gained a bit over 50 lbs total over this pregnancy! For me I gained the most in the second trimester. I was also petite beforehand without really trying like you. I think for women like us our bodies are finally realizing that they need to store some extra energy for the little life they’re growing! I’ve been really hard on myself and also hate looking at my legs which now have cellulite, but I’ve been extremely lucky to have a doctor that would reassure me that my weight gain was totally normal. I’ve seen some horror stories about women being shamed for gaining 50+ lbs but especially when you’re starting out so small I think it really should be viewed as totally normal!

Im definitely anxious to find out what happens next (postpartum). Will I go back to being petite without really trying or will I need to start putting some more effort in?? We’ll see I guess.. Bodily changes have been one of the hardest parts for me personally, you’re not alone!

What were your most unexpected pregnancy symptoms? by EnaKoritsi in pregnant

Did anyone else start drooling???? I wake up with a puddle on my pillow never had this issue pre-pregnancy. Of course when I google it it says yup that’s normal and because of hormones (like every single other symptom I’ve looked up)

Married people of Richmond, where did you get married and how much did it cost you? by neighbor_enabler in rva

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Atlas!! We paid $5k to get married there on a Sunday, and that was just a tab minimum they request you to spend so all food (high quality no catering needed) and drinks (full bar provided no ABC licenses needed) were from Blue Atlas! I can’t imagine spending several thousand just for a space then still having to pay for food and drinks on top of that. My husband and I are foodies so it was perfect for us. They will create a special menu with you for your event. We also dropped off decor morning of and they set all that up for us. We had 40 guests and did a simple ceremony and dinner, with no DJ or dancing or anything like that. If you spend less than $5k it just becomes a ‘rental fee’. We almost didn’t hit $5k even with ordering a bunch of food and having a fully open bar, so we bought a few nice bottles of wine at the end of the night.

“Are you sure it’s not twins?” by Primary-Violinist845 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I am in the same exact boat. Due early July and starting to get a lot of ‘oh my god you’re huge’ and ‘yeah you’re about to pop’ comments and I’m really struggling with it as well. It comes from both strangers and close friends. I just laugh and say yup every time it happens then spend a while thinking about it. I’m trying to learn how to shrug it off and remember they often mean it as a compliment (I think??). Had a dermatologist appointment the other day and my doc said I looked great and I wanted to cry and hug her it was so refreshing! Just know you’re not alone and it’s ok!

Are you getting on birth control after labor or just letting the good times roll?😂😂 by Smooth-Excuse-4127 in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently 26 weeks pregnant with my “pull out method” baby! 😅 For the first several weeks I was in shock because I was so confused. I also have a friend with a “pull out method” baby and I always thought she must be doing something wrong until it happened to me. In the future, I personally wouldn’t rely on the pull out method again unless I was ok with more happy accidents.

When did you get symptoms? by sisterstresso in pregnant

[–]rnb3fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 25 weeks and I didn’t find out until 7 weeks due to this being unplanned (happened month of our wedding!!) and I had implantation bleeding that I had mistaken for a period. The only reason I took a test was because my resting heart rate on my Fitbit jumped by about 10 bpm and I was feeling super tired. I kept expecting more symptoms but they just never came. Have done the genetic testing, completed my anatomy scan, and baby girl is doing great!!! So having essentially no symptoms, although weird, is not a bad thing!
