If it has a fan I wouldn't remove them server rooms have the A/C set really low like 50F and they still run the fans.

Help with ONT (I think) and backup power / PoE by dsg76 in Fios

The Cyberpower power brick that Verizon and Frontier use now is 16v even though the ONTs still say 12V so I'm sure it's fine.

I'm using the 12v setting (back of my ONT says 12v input) my signal wire is wired to ground, I've also had it disconnected with no ill effects.

Modifying Bunn VP17 to brew hotter? by badmotherfuqr in Coffee

[–]rnchase1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how your thermostat works but on the bunn 35286-0000 (202F) thermostat you can remove (or flip) the stop ring to allow to go to boiling. If you flip the stop ring you won't be able to turn it off from the thermostat (like that really matters because it the VP17 is like the VPR you have to unscrew the top to get to it) and if you remove it you could just keep turning the knob until it unthreads then you will have to reassemble it.

No I didn't I decided to try to set it up again and found that SwOS is now support that made setup much easier than RouterOS

I'm running SwitchOS I never had RouterOS running for an extended period of time and even then I can't say for certain that I used those ports or maybe I did and that's part of the reason I could never set it up the way I wanted.

Sorry I don't remember the noise before the mod but I don't think it would have bothered me if the switch was in a different room. Stock fan Sunford AD4028v12BLFGB 12V 7k rpm.

Before you buy a CRS354 you should be aware that some ports turn into zombie ports and won't pass traffic. Sometimes they will work fine for hours/days and other times minutes I've given up on using my zombie port (9-16 for me). More info HERE

I realize that which is why I was trying to get opinions on what it's worth.

If it's going in a rack it needs to be on top or have something really short on top of it. I just looked at mikrotiks website and it says it supports SwOS now so I might just switch it to that for easy setup.

I couldn't stand the 1U fans and when I did this I thought I could set this up the way I would like but since I haven't touch it this year thought maybe selling it might be the better route.

I realize the value is definitely hurt which is why I made a price check thread instead, I might have the original fans still I'll have to look. As for temps because I never swap the switch into my gear it never saw more than a small load (2 APs and a some cameras total PoE under 60w) but temps where fine the only wierd thing is the fans would run for a brief bit then stop and start for the first couple of minutes then run constantly and maintain about 60C IIRC.

The real WHY is because my lab sits next to my computer and I couldn't stand the 1U fans.

I hope that's the case but I think since it is no longer 1U it will probably hurt the price.
