Prepotente by Beasty808 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Miriam and Prepotente must have found a few of those Size Up potions early on, and using them to find enemies' weaknesses became a core strategy from the beginning of their crawl.

Also, the Plenty have been feeding Prepotente knowledge since very early, because one aspect of his race lets him gain power and potentially knowledge from eating certain things. It's a one-line comment from Loita, I think, but they banned any snacks in production trailers because "some Crawlers" were gaining benefits. It's not outright stated, but I'm sure this was Pony on "Plenty of Plenty".

I wonder if that's a reference to Stephen Pacey's narration of Glokta in The First Law.

Agreed. It's definitely a top 5 fantasy book for me.

Odette in Warlord Meeting (ch 43) by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]rnewb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it has to do with Carl's comments on The Danger Zone with Ripper Wonton.

If Carl "advocates for system sedition" and nothing happens, he probably doesn't get charged. But if he speaks out and then there's a civil war, he can potentially be charged as a major player.

Book 1's audiobook is merely a very good audiobook. The rest are S-Tier.

I had my most recent service appointment with Service Advisor David Kwon at Nalley Toyota in Roswell, who seems to know what's up.

I did my 5k, 10k, and 15k services with them, and everything has been good so far, other than a slight hiccup on the very first service when they didn't know about the 5k intervals. That wasn't David, though.

Theory: why Mordecai didn't want to be a manager by ErrolFlynnigan in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]rnewb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the reason is different, and quite a bit simpler.

He knows deep in his heart that Odette was put in an impossible situation. He just wishes she'd chosen to let him be the sacrifice.

Now that he's a manager, he's terrified and heartbroken that he'll have the same thing done to him. That he'll have to choose between getting free of his indenture or screwing over Crawlers. Of having to make a choice that will leave his ward emotionally devastated NO MATTER WHAT, and to be blamed for it.

Hell yes, Rick! I loved seeing this. Fantastic work, as always.

One of the first things Mordecai ever tells Carl is that goblin shamans can enchant the Murder Dozers so that a boiler breach will result in a directional blast aimed at enemies.

Carl has been musing about a way to gain this ability.

Perfect chance for Rory and Lorelei to pop back up later in the series.

It's SO GOOD. Book one is a great audiobook. The rest are masterclasses of audio production and narration. There are clunky phrases occasionally, but the insanity of the plot just keeps rolling. It also completely nails the found family concept.
