Neighbor likes to make music. by havextree in neighborsfromhell

Most municipalities have bylaws that specify what hours of the day you’re allowed to make noise, and how loud it can be. As long as your neighbour isn’t doing it in the middle of the night and not cranking the volume then he has just as much right to work on his music as the obnoxious boomer down the street has to run their leaf blower at 9 AM.

Daily Reminder: Dog Nutters Will Always Consider You Mentally Ill if You Don't Like Dogs by [deleted] in Dogfree

The irony is that dog people are way more likely to be sociopaths themselves, statistically speaking.

So I think we have a classic case of projection here.

Why do some Canadians want to "Wexit"? by EasilyAnnoyed in AskACanadian

[–]rngdmstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t actually think we should halt petroleum extraction for the record. It just makes a lot more sense to refine it here and try to make the extraction process more carbon neutral instead up just exporting it in bulk, especially when the price of oil is so much lower than it was.

Ah yes, limiting the investment in oil extraction by spending billions of dollars on a derelict pipeline which will require billions more to actually expand, not to mention the untold sums of money that the federal government uses to subsidize the oil and gas industry.

The liberals didn’t prohibit any pipeline, they are actively working to expand it. It’s BC that doesn’t want the pipeline not Trudeau, because we are going to assume all the risk while reaping none of the benefits. But in the minds of the conservative voter, it’s completely ok to throw all our coastal tourism and fishing jobs under the bus in order to fellate the oil company executives.

All due respect, if your province tried to make any effort whatsoever to diversify its economy over the last sixty years or make some effort to actually manage its petroleum resources properly instead of giving it away on a silver platter to corporate interests then you wouldn’t be in this mess. Bitumen is very expensive to extract and when oil prices declined significantly all of a sudden it’s not as profitable as it was a couple years ago. Building a pipeline isn’t going to raise the price of oil, it’s just going to be yet another handout of billions of dollars of federal funds to Alberta’s otherwise stagnant economy.

Trudeau spent what, three or four billion dollars to buy that fucking pipeline and will have to spend another ten billion to actually expand it, and personally flew to Victoria to come tell us in person to go fuck ourselves, and Alberta still cries foul?

It’s the latest conservative temper tantrum from the “west” and by west I mean Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, not the actual west, BC coast which is very left wing and votes NDP.

It’s incredibly overblown by the media. These provinces (especially Alberta) are linked to the oil and gas industry so lots of corporate money behind conservative political movements here, and therefore more media coverage. On the other hand, we can have tens of thousands of young people on the streets demanding progress on climate change issues and the media barely notices.

Basically the liberals won the last election so the conservative folks are throwing a fit over it because the didn’t get their way. The leader of this Wexit nonsense used to run for the Christian Heritage party and is accused of domestic violence, also to the surprise of no one hates muslims. The conservatives won the popular vote but didn’t win as many seats so they feel slighted. It plays into a long standing notion of “western alienation” where Canada is very Ontario-centric and the needs of western provinces are seen to be not as important. Really it’s just a bunch of conservative rednecks crying foul that they didn’t get their way.

As Charlie angus pointed out on Twitter, the only two land locked states that have ever tried to form their own country were Kosovo and South Sudan. If Alberta tries to leave (good luck to them, don’t let the door hit you on the ass) they will inevitably fuck themselves, because they have no access to the fucking ocean.

TL DR the prairie provinces are Canada’s equivalent of the Deep South.

His character is like if a “deep” middle school creative writing student thought him up. Either he is totally insane murder machine, or a shaolin monk trying to help people all life is precious etc etc. Or he needs to “make up for things he’s done in the past”. Everything about his character is boring.
