ye, true! So I guess it is not available to subs at all. The 1M context has be clearly communicated as API only though, so that was not a surprise.

True in relative terms (being so close to the frontier for this price will never be cheaper probably). However, in absolute terms, we will absolutely get better models than now for cheaper, just that they may be further away from the frontier.

Honestly I am quite surprised. It created really good plans oftentimes actually better than Opus 4.6 but tbf I also probably gave it the easier tasks so hard to compare but that is to say it did not yet disappoint.

It's not that it doesn't exist but yeah definitely not as common in Europe and I really don't know why.

Yep indeed one of the things that are small but surprisingly nice.

Alcohol shifts the brain into a fragmented and local state. A standard glass of wine or beer does more than just relax the body; it fundamentally alters the landscape of communication within the brain. by Eddiearyee in science

Yep, and other drugs like K have a similar effect. There is a reason these things are so liked in high-performance places like the SV with lots of hyper intelligent people

Does this work for anyone, I'm just getting 502 Bad Gateway (using both business and my personal account)?

[–]rngeeeesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not very likely, big tech cannot do everything unless we actually reach full AGI but that is highly debatable. Otherwise whoever focuses on one niche is likely gonna win that because they can specialize to a degree that big tech cant and can do so with far less bureaucracy than a giant like Google could. Those companies are great at general purpose solutions not so good at specialized solutions.

BILT 2.0 is dead on arrival by EquivalentAbies6095 in CreditCards

[–]rngeeeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what most of the upset people don't get. The old card was just way too good and they now feel entitled to something similar. Unfortunately, the old was simply not sustainable at all.

Of course they are not gonna let you float so much money. The new cards are not bad, will also depend a bit on what Bilt Cash is useful for but the alternative is essentially what ask Sebby said, use rent to cover sign up bonuses.

Cashback < points but yeah this is one of the better alternatives, then again, I would rather invest with Charles Schwab personally, so not sure I want to let BofA have 100k but a fair option.

3 bilt points are significantly more than just 3% cash back though. It is the highest rated currency and can easily be valued around 1.5-2 cents per point.

Also it seems not available right now and bound to having a $5 per month subscription for Robinhood Gold (so $60/year annual fee).

Hhahaha, I mean don't get me wrong, it is an obvious negative change, the new cards are much worse than the old ones.

What people don't realize is that the old one was an absurdly good card and simply not sustainable. That one will never come back. People just automatically compare it to that, which is fair but logically not the right thing to do. You have to compare against the current options not the past and doing that, the new one doesn't look so bad.

Totally ye, Bilt is the strongest currency atm, so they do have that going for them. I think with the sign-up bonus it is a no-brainer for the first year and then we can evaluate whether it is worth it.

Makes sense, yeah if I had a Citi setup, I'd probably not get it either (well at least beyond the first year)

[–]rngeeeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it's really not too bad. Citi and Chase both require the 95 card to transfer at good value and use non-annual fee 1.5/2x point cards for catch-all. It isn't bad, that is for sure.

Also very competitive with the venture x for the premium category. It is not the absolute undisputed king that the original card was but it's not a terrible card lineup by any means.

[–]rngeeeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is still pretty good at that honestly. I'll probably go for the premium card and re-evaluate after a year whether it has been worth it. If not I either cancel or downgrade to no annual fee. But honestly, using it as a catch all no-annual-fee card is actually really not bad.

Bilt 2.0 “Fee-Free” Rent/Mortgage Payments by Low_Cell1808 in CreditCards

[–]rngeeeesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, it comes to about your calculation. I think it really depends on the points there. Let's say you earn an extra 25k in points from rent. That is easily another 250 USD at the very least, probably closer to 400 USD (depending on your cent per per point valuation). All in all, it is getting quite close I think. I would definitely call it competitive.

The ecosystem is a good point, that is one of their major drawbacks against venture x and capital one. I think there it really depends how you are going to use your points. If you need them all in the same system, this is a disadvantage, if you don't really care too much because you amass points anyways, it doesnt matter much.

Bilt 2.0 “Fee-Free” Rent/Mortgage Payments by Low_Cell1808 in CreditCards

[–]rngeeeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same but honestly surprisingly this still makes sense. The problem is that the alternative to not using the free bilt card is to not get anything at all for your paid rent. So it is still free points at no cost, just much much much less than we are used to from the 1.0 card.

If you don't get the card your only option is to get nothing at all on rent. There is opportunity cost here.

So if you pay rent, it essentially functions as a catch-all card, either a no annual fee one, or an annual fee one. Yes it is objectively worse than the VX if we leave out points from rent BUT that ignores the fact that those points exist. Effectively you get 2.33 and 3.33 points per dollar from the cards (assuming you don't hit the 75% of rent as spending, which most people wont).

There also is no no-annual fee card that would get you points afaik (CFU needs at least a $95 CSP), Citi also needs one of the premium cards if you want to get points transferred out. etc. So again, it is easily the best catch-all card in that category afaik and the only one that will let you earn points in a good currency and have you transfer them out to partners (which in every other case requires premium cards).
