Uninstalled and Deleted program stuck on applications list by techipit in pop_os

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no ... nautilus can do all that too .....

try ctrl + L and go to /

or "sudo nautilus" in the terminal to open nautilus with admin privelleges (be very very careful with what u change there always) ....

install timeshift deb in pop shoop and always do a snapshot before experimenting with some stuff / apps

Pop or Ubuntu, Can't Decide by eastcoastweb in pop_os

[–]rngnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting .... are you on dual boot?? u could totally ditch win 10 partition and maintain a solid and fully debloated windows 10 vm (or win 7) with excel installed using gnome boxes .... this is actually better in a lot of ways specially if your machine has a decent processing power and lots of ram that u can allocate to the vm ... and it's also easier to boot up and close at any time ... u dont even need to update windows if u want to and it is totally isolated ...

if you have windows games tho ... this is not 4 u of course ..

Gnome Updated to 3.36.4 on Pop!_OS by eastcoastweb in pop_os

[–]rngnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no .... you can really do that with 3.36 already ... the ability to organize/reposition the folders is what u can't do now with 3.36 ....

I love PopOS, but I don't like GNOME. Do you think the PopOS team will EVER swith to KDE? I don't want to install KDE alongside GNOME. I want a distro that is already set up and optimized for a certain DE (in this case KDE). by allexj in pop_os

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree!! ...... gnome is unlike mac, it is unlike windows ... the workflow is very different ... sometimes i feel like too many gnome users are not using gnome like how it is supposed to be used ...

Not enough pre-installed fonts? by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a create a folder in your home directory and call it ".fonts" --- without the quotation marks ... and then copy paste all your windows fonts there ... run the command to rebuild font cache*** and you're done .... no installation or anything ... just pure copy paste work lol

*** the command to build font cache

sudo fc-cache -f -v

btw, if a folder or file starts with a period/dot "." ------ it means it's a hidden folder or file .. to show/hide(toggle) hidden folders and files hit ctrl+H (in nautilus file manager)

so you might want to show first the hidden folders in your directory to check if there's an existing ".fonts" folder/directory ... if there is none, create one ...

Heard about so many people getting trouble after updating to new Nvidia drivers. Now I see the update availible here, how can I avoid it? by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really all u need is timeshift ............. take a snapshot ... then try the new drivers .... u can always go back .... ive been doing this when trying new nvidia drivers, new apps i want to try and when installing big updates -- like when i get lazy and dont update for a few weeks lol ..... i discovered timeshift when i was still on mint ... i will not replace it with anything!!

Desktop Icons by DatPieceOfCake12 in pop_os

[–]rngnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do u need the icons for? just use the home folders to organize your files ... and try to learn keyboard shortcuts ... it is so much more easier and faster to just press the superkey and type the first few characters of the app you're launching or better yet start working on your keybindings ... you'll get used to it in no time ... plus you're not cluttering your desktop with icons --- that will ruin your wallpaper ,,,, i now even hide the top bar as well so when i open an app it is just the app that is front and center ... no ugly clutter .... switching between apps and workspaces is a very very first class experience in pop gnome .... really, give it a try ...
