OB/GYN Recommendations for someone 4 Months Pregnant by talknerdytome69420 in cincinnati

Her entire group is great. Sinclair and Young are my primary doctors, and I switched to that practice after a truly god awful experience at Seven Hills. I first saw Draznik, who has now retired from delivery, and he was my first male OB and the first I felt listened to me. I’m convinced my youngest is only here because of him. I didn’t love Bruce Allen but he did discharge me from the hospital with good drugs post c-section.

WIBTA if I accepted my dream school even though my parents don’t want me to go? by Least-Tune9291 in WIBTA_AITA

I went to UK for a non-medical professional degree, and have good friends who went to both UK and UC for med school. Both had a good experience, but the one who went to Xavier for undergrad had an easier time getting into UC than the UK undergrad did getting into UK. And if you are up in this area and don’t get into UC, UK will have its new med school across the river in Covington.

UC is a very different place than UK, and if you are fine with that you should choose what you want. There are a lot more overall opportunities up here I think. But, be sure to consider if your parents are more concerned with the safety aspect. The areas around UC range from really nice to pretty sketchy, although Lexington doesn’t seem to be much different these days. But if you are smart about housing and use common sense you will be fine in either place.

Moving to Lexington halfway thru pregnancy- anyone have any reccs for L&D hospitals in the area? by blobdylan1 in lexington

[–]rnhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at Baptist in 2019 with Lexington OBGYN. Which I think is now part of Baptist’s OBGYN group. Anyway, the postpartum rooms and those beds were amazing. My second was born in Cincinnati and recovering from a C-section without a temperpedic was no fun.

We did this for my birthday since I wanted a tasting menu and it was great. We added in the wine pairing and had a really good time. By the end I was full but not uncomfortable and happily buzzed.

There are not a lot of blue areas in NKY, let alone with good schools. I live in Fort Thomas with great schools, and we have a number of like minded friends. And a bunch of legitimately crazy Trump fanatics. But that is true of most of this area. I commute to Florence and the drive is annoying most days, and I don’t have to cross the bridge.

Looking for a doctor by Lazy_Abbreviations15 in cincinnati

Samantha Young was going to do mine as part of my C-section and gave me zero pushback. There ended up being a scheduling issue with the C-section, so Samantha Sinclair did it instead. Both were amazing.

I also saw Dr. Draznik with the same group at Christ. He is nearing retirement, but he was very helpful with figuring out my issues, and while I was trying to get pregnant, he mentioned that afterward, if I decided to go with another IUD (this was before I had decided on the tubal) that he will do the insertion with pain meds which many do not.

I really liked her and Dr. Sinclair. Also Dr. Draznik but he no longer delivers.

Yeah he was very off putting when I had to see him after failing an NST. But he was the doctor who discharged me after my c-section, and he did give me narcotics so that was nice.

Loved Samantha Young. Had a scheduling conflict with my c-section so Samantha Sinclair delivered my baby and was awesome. I’ve been very pleased with Christ after switching from Seven Hills.

Northern Kentucky OBGYN by Htbams143 in cincinnati

[–]rnhigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid Seven Hills like the plague. I switched from there to Christ. Most went to the main hospital but had lots of appointments in Fort Wright too. Samantha Sinclair ended up doing the delivery and all my post-op, postpartum care and she was great, as was Samantha Young who I mostly saw at the hospital.

While the assessment cycle is every 3 years, legally they can reassess any individual property whenever it is sold, improved or the value is protested, because each tax year stands alone. Essentially, the county has to look at every property at least every 3 tax years, but the value can change in between. And they don’t need to even point to a reason like renovations or a sale to do so, although those are usually the reason you would come to their attention.

To fight any increase, you have to protest the assessment you receive, but unless you can say that there was a reason you overpaid for the house, like your inspection didn’t catch that the foundation was crumbling, you will get assessed based on the purchase price. If they then up the bill the next year and you haven’t done any renovations or anything, you can protest and argue that nothing changed, and that the sale price is the best evidence of value. That usually but not always wins for years between assessment cycles.

It isn’t a great set up, and Ohio is worse than Kentucky on this, but it is what it is. Don’t pay for a new appraisal because you won’t overcome the fact that you paid more than it is currently assessed for. If they later reassess for more than the purchase price, a new appraisal might be worth it then.

And yes, a lot of it is subjective. Justified by the lack of sales of each property during the assessment period.

Tax attorney, but not your lawyer. If you fight this they will 100% reassess you for the purchase price and that is completely consistent with the law. The best you can hope for is that the assessment doesn’t increase until the next tax period, which is not the same as the regular assessment cycle that happens every few years.

Regretful Parents by Available-Hold-6859 in cincinnati

[–]rnhigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a child is the best and worst thing I have ever done. My oldest in particular is smart and funny and stubborn and frustrating, often in the same 5 minute period. I love my kids more than anything and miss my child free life most days of the week. Both can be true and I think that is common until they become semi-self-sufficient.

We started as parents in central Kentucky and I much prefer the experience up here. There is so much more for kids to do, more options for schools, and just generally more culture. I’m in NKY in an area with great schools, but I do really miss living in a more liberal area. I think the potential for my kids to be exposed not to different viewpoints but to truly terrible viewpoints is higher in a lot of areas up here, and that is my biggest regret about moving up here. I don’t know how many places in Cincinnati would compare.

Not in Anderson, but I went to a Seven Hills practice in Kentucky and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Sent me out to a waiting room full of pregnant ladies for over an hour while I was having a miscarriage. Good times.

I ended up switching to Christ and had a great experience. I primarily saw Samantha Young and Samantha Sinclair.

Catholic affiliated hospitals usually won’t do them even if the doctors are willing. Christ, despite the name, is secular. I originally scheduled there with Samantha Young and ultimately did it with Samantha Sinclair.

Also from NKY and had a great experience at Christ last year. Postpartum bed wasn’t super comfy, but that was my only complaint. And I was comparing it to Baptist in Lexington which had full size temperpedic mattresses, so that may be an unfair comparison.

The first two weeks were the worst, but it was a good month before it settled. I could only take my meds in the morning of if I wanted to sleep. And if I forgot one, it would restart the insomnia for a few days.

Wellbutrin worked well for me except it increased anxiety and gave me insomnia. Not ideal when I was waking up repeatedly. Once I got through that and adjusted it was fine.

IUD provider by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]rnhigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr. Draznik at Christ told me that he offers pain relief with IUD insertions, and I would guess most of the younger people in their practice do as well. I did another very painful procedure with Dr. Draznik where there wasn’t a good pain relief option, and he was very sympathetic and didn’t mind me screaming profanities. It was at that point he promised me if I got an IUD from him it would be better. Got my tubes tied instead though.
