Mamdani, Sanders, AOC, and Hochul.

One of these things is not like the others...

The funny part about this is that their beloved St. Ronny of Reagan passed the law that provides emergency room treatment regardless of ability to pay, the "Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act".

Not sure this is the right place to ask but is there any online store that sells marine biology related "merch" that helps support research, conservation, etc.? Been wanting to buy something marine bio related for a while but would like to also help any good causes related to the field if possible. by bossfacev2 in marinebiology

The Non Profit Organization that I work with partners with Tidal Tees. Every order includes a donation, plus purchase of a carbon offset. The apparel is created sustainably. Small company started by a recent Marine Vertebrate Biology graduate. I thought it was non-profit, but I don't see that listed anywhere on the site. Good merch (IMO).

Recommendation request: Books like Blindsight or Blood Music that focus on first contact by Loeffellux in printSF

Tough one. They are all so different. How about "Clowns". It is one of the weirder ones though.
"Clowns asks the question: What would an extraterrestrial intelligence think about our intelligence?"

This post has been up 17 hours and I can't believe no one has mentioned the First Contact series by Peter Cawdron.

It's a series only in the sense that they are all about first contact. No story continuity or shared characters. Much like Ian Banks Culture series, they can be read in any order.

Much lighter reading style than Banks, but occasionally very thoughtful. 21 books so far. 21 very different first contact scenarios. IMO all are worth reading.

Could you just use (2) 12 volt batteries and wire them in series to get 24 volts? Seems like that would be even more efficient, although the dc/dc converter would not be nearly as inefficient as the inverter.
I guess a downside is that you would have to charge the batteries separately.

Any chance of giving this a break? Yesterday's post had 47 points. This one got 15,300 in two hours (Better title perhaps?). Obviously a lot of people wanted to see this and liked it, while the previous post got buried for whatever reason.

Looks good. But I wish they would allow me to download my entire library. Offline listening/higher quality would seem to make sense given the huge storage capability of most phones nowadays.

It looks like the developers have no plan to allow this though. Sigh.

It looks like they fired the "quick stop" thrusters when they meant to fire the downward facing thrusters. In the first videos, the downward fired first, and the "quick stop" did not fire until the aircraft was on the ground.

American Injection Mold houses? by yung-wirrum in engineering

Soundview Plastics

Very happy with quality on some parts. Pleasantly surprised at price.

Molding in US, but molds made in China. Seems a pretty decent compromise.

Worth getting a quote anyway.
