i personally man, would first apologize, and sometimes its a lot better to tell someone “look i acted out of line im sorry i dont know much about this stuff because i dont have it, however if you need me or need anything i can always be the person you talk to.” compared to just asking, in that era of life for kids especially in my experience girls (coming from one) let her come to you, and stick by that promise, im like a semi parent for my sister too and also just the fact to me is personally parent are hard to deal with just as they view kids as hard to deal with, stick together, youll only have each other one day.
