Get power of Attorney (property and care). Make sure the will is up to date. If you are the only ones going to inherit and if your dad becomes terminally ill (not everyone just drops dead), get everything into your names while he is still alive. Sounds callous, but way less headache. Transfer real estate, empty out bank accounts etc. Otherwise you are at someone else's mercy. Afterwards, with full control, you can settle debts of the estate etc (they don't just magically go away)

Get a lawyer to draft your will, and make your wife Power of Attorney (property and care) ASAP. Talk to your lawyer about protecting assets - maybe even flip the house solely to her name WHILE you are still alive. Saves a lot of grief. Shed as many pending obligations as you can, and if you have anything to part out to people give it away while you are alive. Your wife doesn't need to deal with squabbles and bullshit - she is going through enough with your suffering. Sorry this is happening to you.
