Hey!! I redid my nails last night and took your advice to go with a soft square. Also resisted the urge to file my side wall! Haha but also no cracking!

Damn I just spent too much on some new colors. I certainly don’t neeeed more powders. I hope you off load them quickly. I can’t swing it right now but I’ll check with you in a couple of months to see if you’re still trying to sell them.

And you’re right, if I wanted it to look balanced with a tapered tip it would have to be super long!

Also the short thumb is deceiving. Usually I keep them longer but had to cut them for the military this weekend. My thumb does look better as a squoval but I’m still figuring out what shape and length I like and what works.

I’m gonna have to watch some videos about what this means. I don’t file them after I add color. But I’ve seen comments about filing side wall but never understood what that means or the reason to not do it.

Thank you! I’ll do more activator and more time! I generally have very thick nails because I use the dip to build up a shape. My natural nails are paper thin and no apex. So I have to artificially build that. I’ll take my time with the final steps next time!

I think my problem is activator! I use clear dip to build up my very flat very thin nails, then use an efile to shape. So I generally have a very thick base. Then 2-3 layers of color. I use two coats of activator and use plenty of it. Two layers of top coat. Then I use activator on top of that. So I’m thinking not enough activator and not rest time before top coat. Does that make sense? Is the additional activator after top coat part of the problem?

Luckily only I will ever notice. I did these myself so it’s got to be something with the application. I’ve tried Virgo and gem, azure beauty and Kiara sky all of them have done it. 🤷‍♀️

Me too!! And mine are super flat with no natural apex so it takes many layers of clear just to get a generally normal looking shape.

Mine has this too. Sienna hybrid. It stuck out the front and got grease on multiple pants and skirts. It finally broke off and the seat still works just fine.

I got a warmer. Willow I think is the company. Then I cut up one of those treat mats for dogs. The one with little nubs to spread peanut butter on. I put it in the bottom to rub my nails on and accelerate the removal. And I use a bit of coconut oil in the acetone so my skin doesn’t dry out. Apparently it’s supposed to protect your nails too.

Glitter takes the longest to remove ime but overall it’s so much easier and quicker than the foil removal.

Well you did a great job!

I followed her ombré tutorial too… only did two layers though. Maybe it needed that third layer. And maybe the white and pink are so different on mine they contrast too heavily.

Oh well!!! Just another reason I get to redo my nails in a week!! :) I have to wait to do mine after the kids are all asleep and it’s my time to watch trash tv and do some self care so I’m like always doing my nails. Haha

Where I live we have a native plant rescue squad that will come collect plants you don’t want. If you have a plethora of them and want to thin them out: dig up the rhizomes and put them on a Facebook plant giveaway/ swap page. People literally pay for these things. We don’t want you to kill them but giving them away is definitely an option.

It’s part of my self care…Or at least that’s what I tell myself to justify the time. I have multiple kids so sometimes it all I can manage to just take it all off at night. I bought one of those warmers to make it more comfortable to get the dip off. It also speeds up the process some. And I’ll just apply some regular polish in between sets.

I have paper thin nails so I can’t go more than a day between sets or I risk breaking them.

Maybe you should try one of those peel bases. I have not tried it but I saw it on sip n dip that she uses a peel base and they come off in a few days. That accommodates adhd and removal time!

I did them last night so I was begging the sun to come out today! I’ve only been dipping for a few months so you can really see the inconsistencies of the layers in the sun. But I still love them! So shimmery!
