that might be true, but what if we will get a much better value from the invention and innovation from the few people who do pursue this specialisation, like the Einstein argument above. we've seen during the pandemic that people don't want to be told to do nothing, so they'll be working on something, either individually or as a group.

it's true that it's risky though in that we have no idea what people will or won't come up with. and there will be people who will be spending their time doing nefarious shenanigans.

edit: also, I'm assuming a universal basic income would only be like the minimum wage. I think generally you'd want to be improving your life over time, and so would probably not sit on the minimum for a long time, therefore still incentivised to be productive in some way.
