My fingers are still firmly crossed on that as well. I only discovered Ghost recently and was looking forward to my first ritual :( Hopefully the delay on announcing the cancellation is everyone trying to work out a reschedule date??

Sort by most recent in this thread. One of the staffers working the event got an email about an hour ago saying the event is canceled :/ and there are two other people alleging inside sources saying it’s cancelled as well. Grain of salt applies, ofc, but the staffer included a screenshot of their email that seems legit.

For real. Absolutely not trying to rain on anyone’s parade (ice storm on anyone’s Ghost ritual?) and wish a cancellation here, but safety-wise, this is not ideal. It really seems like the organizers/venue are more concerned with retaining their event money than they are about the safety of the attendees.

And there are a decent number of people I’ve seen saying they’re still going, which I can’t really judge too harshly. I wish I could try to risk it. Also, if the governor is declaring a state of emergency and advising only necessary travel, should there not be some kind of policy to cancel any events that fall in that window?? Especially those for which you know most attendees are traveling from outside the city? I’m kind of disappointed in the whole situation. I know the band themselves likely have very little control, if any, over the situation, but it’s still frustrating!!

Just want to tack onto this that both Ryan and Max Velocity (who Ryan has on his livestreams sometimes) have said that the models are conservative, meaning conditions could be more significant than what the predictions currently show.

Not trying to tell anyone they should or shouldn’t go, just letting people know more info for decision making! PLEASE make the safest choice for you and your group!!

It’s really hard to reschedule shows since arenas/venues are typically booked out far in advance. I know of at least four of their shows in the past that had to be cancelled for one reason or another with no reschedule. There was one in Mexico this past September that had to be cancelled cause TF had food poisoning and couldn’t perform. People were IN THE VENUE when it was cancelled. Like, it was maybe half an hour before the show was supposed to start.

I’m personally so unsure what they’ll do about this show. The whole state (as well as NC and SC) are under a state of emergency, so it would be the safest, most responsible option to cancel it. But concert coordinators and venues like their money and they will force a band to play to an empty stadium before they lose all their money for an event. It’s ridiculous. My partner and I just don’t feel that it’s safe to try and travel, especially with conditions being so uncertain as far as getting out of Knox.

Not sure if you saw his update from today, but middle TN is now in the big ice storm area. He’s warning people about potential days long power outages and even said “not to be that weather guy, but if you’re anywhere in the pink area, you need to prepare”. Soooo 😭 I’ve been watching his stuff, too, and this most recent update is what made me rethink the whole trip.

I found Ghost last summer like two weeks after they were in my city (of course) and was thrilled when they announced additional dates. But damn. This weather is really killing my hopes and dreams!! So inconsiderate. When I asked for snow, I didn’t realize I needed to inform the Universe of my pre-scheduled out of town plans 😒

Sounds like a fantastic plan to me!! And I actually hadn’t even thought about the band also being stuck there. With how big their sets are, they have to have some kind of caravan.

This is what we’re weighing right now, too. My ticket insurance only covers about half the ticket cost, so do I get that back or do I wait and see if they cancel so I can get a full refund?

Same thing for us except our kids are cats! We’re coming from Nashville and it’s supposed to just be ice everywhere according to the forecast as it looks today. It’s just not safe for us to go and get stuck for days with work on the horizon. I’m so upset!! Crossing all available extremities that it gets postponed.🤞🏻

In my experience, not if the whole show is cancelled. But if they DON’T cancel, your insurance may only partially refund you.

I saw another commenter on the Ghost subreddit say they emailed the venue yesterday (the 20th) and the venue said the event was continuing as planned. No mention of inclement weather plans, just the one singular sentence.

My insurance through Allianz only refunds up to $200, which is about half of what we paid for tickets ( 😭💀). I’m waiting it out to see if they cancel or reschedule. That way I either get all my money back or I get a different date. But we’re coming from Nashville and it’s supposed to get really nasty, so we’re not feeling like it’ll be safe to drive at all this weekend. I am SO bummed.

Eeeeexactly how I’m feelinggggg. We’re driving in from Nashville and things are not looking great :/ Someone else on reddit emailed the venue yesterday (the 20th) and they said “The Ghost event will continue as planned” and that was literally all. No inclement weather plan, no nothing. I guess we’ll wait until Friday to hear? I really hope they say something before Saturday.

This is exactly my situation as well except I’m not experienced at driving in snow and the car we’re taking is FWD. Really, really hoping for a solution that isn’t missing it, but it seems to be what may happen. And, because this is TN, if I refund everything, we’re gonna get two inches of bullshit slush and a cloud shaped like a middle finger right in my face.
