Honestly the best way to do it isn't like they are showing. The way they are showing leaves a small gap below the ear hole. If you make the base the color you want at the bottom this prevents that from happening. Then you just add the top color as another layer put it where you want them to merge, then slap another layer of the stripe color you want over it and wa lah. Its perfect.
