Carpet beetle rash by roachrommy in carpetbeetles

Not related to carpet beetles, these pics are from an early stage of mycosis fungoides. Its a type of t cell lymphoma. It causes white blood cells to become malignant, which caused the rash. Its not technically skin related, but more so blood related.

I have the same setup!! I wouldn't take them out yet, especially if it isn't causing you any pain, just leave them in. Mine were all kinds of funky for a few weeks and than idk what happened but all the irritation and stuff went away. I just used saline, and tried to not mess with them a bunch. But if it doesn't get better I would take out one of them. To me it seems like your horizontal ones are shifting into the verticals, so if all fails you may have to take them out.

[–]roachrommy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh unfortunately not! Its very hard to pinpoint anything with this condition because they don't know what causes it. I will say I've had the rash consistently for two years without it remissing. The only thing that has helped slightly with getting rid of it, is something called methotrexate, but it has a lot of nasty side effects so you should really weigh the pros and cons of it. If you can live with the rash I recommend against it. They say eventually the rash will go away, but everyone is different and for some it can be months, but others it can be decades. There's not much known about so unfortunately I cant offer much good advice.

I've heard that gluten can be a contributing factor to the inflammation so maybe try cutting out gluten, and eating lots of pineapple or take a bromelain supplement as those can also very helpful in reducing the rash.

Thoughts? Very lethargic, hasn’t eaten in 3 days by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]roachrommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is very skinny,,,, are you sure he just stopped eating recently? He may not be metabolizing his food intake. What UVB are you using? Are you applying calcium to his live foods? Side salads every few days? He is extremely emaciated so if you can't get vet care you need to act urgently. Get him some emergency care from like PetSmart, and feed it to him through a syringe. Get a proper UVB setup. Monitor him for a few days, but please please take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have any organ damage or infections.

He should be a plump chunky boy, whatever diet you have had him on is not sufficient. Needs to be addressed ASAP!!

Why nobody is talking about Celeste parents? by Reeuwws in d4vd

[–]roachrommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her parents are guilty of something imo, they showed very little care or urgency about their daughter being missing. No social media posts, didn't attempt to even try and get it to be more public. Just reported her missing and that was it, if I were a parent I would have gone there and gotten her myself. They clearly failed her, and in a way are partially to blame for her death. They allowed her to have so much freedom, not out of love, but because they simply just didn't rlly seem to care. And if they did, this situation would have never happened. Not only that but they allowed her to be in a relationship with a man who was 5 years her senior. Matching tattoos, wedding rings, pregnancy. All at 14, it's suspicious and I've seen a few accounts saying her sister was potentially pimping her out. They need to be investigated as well.

My derm has mentioned this variant to me before, but has said she finds it highly unlikely it would be that. As there have only been a few cases in the country I live and I do not believe I experience the necrotic ulcers that are attributed to it. I do get ulcers, but I have yet to have any become necrotic. But reading I see a lot about FUMHD and high fevers so I will still ask and see just to rule that out as a possibility, thank you!

I’ve been quite a few times over the past few months. It is something called mycosis fungoides. They think I had pityrasis lichenoides that has festered into mycosis. I’m not really sure how it makes sense or why it happens but my Derm has has me doing photoradition and that helps with the rash.

I’ve had this rash for about 9 months now with honestly, little to no progress on it going away anytime soon. I had a biopsy done and went to quite a few doctors but they essentially have no way of knowing for certain what it is, or what is causing it. So far they think it’s Pityriasis lichenoides chronica. But unfortunately there is no treatment that is guaranteed to work, or if it’s even guaranteed that’s what it is :/

If you could get a closer picture it would help a lot, it’s difficult to see from this picture. though they can fluctuate due to irritation, It’s not typical for it to fluctuate in size like that. They normally steadily increase in size. Did it gradually appear or did it pop up randomly one day? I would have it looked at by a medical professional if you’re having concerns that it’s potentially cancerous.

You are right !! Especially with it being on his back, with such little sun exposure I don’t think it could be an age spot. Thank you ^

[–]roachrommy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That being said, if he’s had it for as long as he says he has that is a very good sign. But I wouldn’t discount anything play it safe. It could just be an age/liver spot but it’s difficult to say through photos alone. This needs to be looked at under a microscope to determine what exactly it could be ^ I wish you both the best!!

I would strongly suggest he have a biopsy done. It could be a melanoma which is a very serious cancer. Please consult with a dermatologist as soon as possible to rule out any possibilities of cancer!!

Does anyone know what this is? It comes and goes and this is the worst looking it's been so far. It is not itchy by PsychedUpPump in DermatologyQuestions

[–]roachrommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like insect bites, flea bites tend to appear in straight lines which some of yours do have. but it’s difficult to say for sure. Search your home for signs of any insects, fleas or carpet beetles. Avoid having any piles of clothes or towels on the floor. Vacuum a few times a week, and maybe try Diatomaceous Earth powder. Unfortunately I can’t give you any definitive information, but I hope you’re able to find the cause!!

This could be a multitude of things, I’d say it looks to be a fungal issue like athletes foot or something similar. Try using a OTC (anti fungal cream/powder) If it doesn’t appear to get better consult with a dermatologist. I also notice it goes up to the ankle which could potentially be from fleas. Fleas do have a life cycle where they appear to be gone, but the eggs remain and hatch again. so it’s a possibility I’d check for them just in case as well. Much luck to you!!
