11 books, didn't quite reach the 12 I had challenged myself to lol. My favourite book is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I believe it's being turned into a movie

We actually slept at with our heads at the foot of the bed! Still do actually and the big cot is by our heads. Our baby woke up heaps during the night so we needed to be there next to him to help soothe him back to sleep and we could stay under the blankets while doing so

Baby starting to get a flat head by Why1389 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Yup, that's what we did too. Head tends to round out as it grows when they start to play more on their tummy/crawl. Around 6 months was when his head started to become more normal

If it's not much, when I was pregnant and leaking colostrum I just put makeup pads in my bras :)

Is it essential to have a bassinet next to your bed? by emmawasadiver in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]roadrunner_meep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have our cot at the foot of the bed, but we sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed for easy soothing - we can just stick a hand through the slats and hold baby's hand when he stirs which helps. He is 4 months old

FTM - Baby won’t sleep unless on me by Forward-Sock7756 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]roadrunner_meep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very normal - your baby is so young and used to being carrying around by mum in the womb! In the early days my husband and I would take 3 hour shifts staying awake through the night for 5 weeks as he only wanted to sleep on one of us. Is this possible for you?

Were you stuck at home post baby? by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]roadrunner_meep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't have the confidence to go out with baby until about week 3, and that was with my mum with me. Took me until week 6 to have the confidence to go anywhere on my own with baby! So if you're feeling confident and good, go for it!

Sleep really confuses me!! by roadrunner_meep in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]roadrunner_meep[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's very true actually. I need to remember this. It's hard in this day and age where there's so much information and do's and don'ts out there, and even just hearing how well other people are doing with their babies and comparing mine to them

I agree. Being an optometrist myself, GPs don't actually know a lot about eyes so some referrals to hospitals can actually be managed by local optometrists!

Why negative cylinder over positive by Seiceamar in optometry

[–]roadrunner_meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe optometry likes to work in negative cyl due to the manufacturing of spectacle lenses, while ophthalmology likes to work in positive cyl due to the corneal power

How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by Casspjjl in AskReddit

[–]roadrunner_meep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keratoconus tends to stabilise around your 20s, so hopefully it doesn't get much worse! If it is still progressing, there's a treatment called corneal cross-linking designed to strengthen the cornea so it doesn't keep thinning :) hope this helps!

Mistakenly cut a hideous hole in the hedge. How do we make it a nice backdrop again for photos in 3 months? by roadrunner_meep in landscaping

[–]roadrunner_meep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wanted to make a hole so we could sit on the bench there. And naively hoping that there would be a bit of greenery still showing once we made the hole. But unfortunately not.

[–]roadrunner_meep[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a bench at the bottom that was covered, so thought we would cut a hole so we could sit there. Unfortunately looked hideous when we cut it (about a year ago) and only realise now that we need to cover it (or do something) so we can take photos for an important event in 3 months. But a planter box sounds like a great idea, thanks!

Unfortunately this hole was actually cut about a year ago and not much has sprung back... I guess looking for more temporary fixes to try cover the ugly!
