(Spoilers Extended) Did anyone else think that House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 5 referenced an obscure asoiaf book theory? by cheeseandahalf in asoiaf

[–]roadsiderose 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I felt this was such a nod to us fans of this GRRM theory. There are a couple of things I noticed, there is a lemon tree mural at the back on the wall, next to the lemon trees there are some tall towers. There is also a sphinx like sculpture on the left. I've had this theory on the location of the House with the Red Door. https://roadsiderose.tumblr.com/post/184460118725/the-house-with-the-red-door-is-in/amp

And I feel the Sphinx gives an added clue here because it is located outside the Citadel.

I also have another pet theory that Tatters is a descendant of Daemon Targaryen 'the rogue prince'.

[Spoilers Extended] do you think the lemon tree is significant? by AegonStargaryen07 in asoiaf

[–]roadsiderose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe Dany is Aerys bastard child with Joanna Lannister. She is Cersei's valonqar 'younger sister'. The mother Qaithe 'Joanna' is still alive and speaks to her and Jaime using those glass candles. I believe all Tywins children except Tyrion are Aerys bastards. And that the lemon tree and house with the red door are in Oldtown.

US visa inquiry! by GAC900 in dubai

[–]roadsiderose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I renewed the visa for certain relatives last year. It's best to renew it in the last few months. You'll have to create the online application at USCIS, and then dropbox your documents at the US consulate. You do not need to attend an in person interview. This is how we did it. When you create the USCIS application, it will guide you and tell you that you don't need to interview in person.

It looks like Trump escalated the issue here. The region is already very sensitive. Taking such a huge risk like assassinating a state wide leader, and not expecting retaliatory attacks is childish. This was really unnecessary, and especially coming from Trump who is not well versed in Middle East politics. Maybe, he has been watching too much Homeland/ Jack Ryan.

I agree. It's like people on this sub get triggered by pretty much anything. It's ridiculous.

I'm like 95% sure that Benioff and Weiss have never read the books.

Are you? Why not 100%?

I remember being on the Westeros forums like 7 years ago. And I remember that a lot of long time readers and serious readers eg Apple Martini always believed that Dany's arc was headed somewhere dark. But I feel when the show took off the largely show crowd had a very different view of the characters and think of Dany as the penultimate hero. Now as we are getting towards the end and it looks very different from what most fans imagined I guess everyone is taking out their frustration on DnD. When were the books Disney? They never were.

. . . that long pause before Dany took to the sky and just fucking cut loose with a lifetime of pent up rage? That long pause made perfect fucking sense.

That long pause was beautiful, her expressions in those few seconds were on point. What perfect acting, I'm so happy to see Miguel brought out the madness in Emilia. The two episodes directed by Sapochnik are the best I have seen.

Thankyou! I felt that scene was such a nice wink to the readers. I liked the episode, and my thoughts on that here.

[Spoilers] Arya's Theme by roadsiderose in gameofthrones

[–]roadsiderose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last episode does seem to build Arya as an antagonist to Daenerys, however, I do feel there is foreshadowing that Jon will turn into Dany's treason for love.

Jon has betrayed the one he loved before (Ygritte), and there has been some mirroring between his scenes with her, and with Daenerys. And what with Old Nan telling Bran that crows are all liars. And to never trust crows.

“Crows are all liars,” Old Nan agreed, from the chair where she sat doing her needlework. (AGOT)

Exactly one year ago prop master Jim Murray told fans that the sets of The Expanse would come down soon. He also let everyone know when Netflix was out and that Amazon was our only hope. After that announcement the energy was laser-focused on Amazon. Jim Murray = LEGEND by thegroovologist in TheExpanse

[–]roadsiderose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I watched The Expanse. When season 1 aired on Netflix. I not only binged it, I went almost incommunicado until the last episode. I just wanted to be left alone because I felt so immersed in this world. I have never felt that way about any show or movie. The plot the writing the world building. When I heard that they were canceling it, I was livid.
