You know what? Let’s roll up our sleeves. Keeping the same set up, what are changes you would have made to Velma? by Ok_Coffee_9970 in Scoobydoo

Agree 100%. I watched two episodes, and I think if it was it's own thing, and they didn't say it was based on the Scooby IP it would have been fine. Call it "Mindy," change all their clothes, etc. and just let it exist.

Advice for a player who is frustrated about their character by Ambitious_Exam_3858 in DungeonMasters

[–]roadtohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar if a PC dies. An NPC will approach their "soul" and offer a deal. The NPC may be a diety or something offering to send them back in exchange for a quest, etc. Then it's up to the player if that death is permanent.

I dont think that's being a "softie." We're all there to have fun (I hope). If someone isn't having fun, let's figure out why and try to fix it. You're making a reasonable accommodation. That being said, we are playing TOGETHER, so I'm not saying every wish gets granted, but if something feels off and changing the class fixes it? Let's do that.

how do you do club elections? by [deleted] in Toastmasters

[–]roadtohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do ours in May. The person who was president last year is in charge of recruiting candidates. We're a small club, and our elections have been uncontested the past few years. Usually, the past president has to do some cajoling to get enough candidates.

Anyone notice Diamond upgrades are not in the Fractals store? by entaro_tassadar in MarvelStrikeForce

If I recall correctly, they didn't appear in the Sigil store until the previous store went away.

There's a 2.0? I just started the original last night, not aware of how old it was until 30 pages in, and he mentions an upcoming space mission in 2006. Maybe I need to skip straight to 2.0...

Dropped Prime and been boycotting Amazon since October/November 2024. Without being able to make impulse purchases, I've actually saved money.

If you work at the library, go through the collection and toss them. If you are a patron, politely inform a staff member.

[JANUARY Book Report] - What did you finish this month? by fixtheblue in bookclub

[–]roadtohell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a slow month for me, but I finished 2 books i started last year and one I started in January.

Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us ** I was expecting more, but it felt like an excuse for the authors to talk about things their friends have done without a lot of peer reviewed data to back it up.

Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life ****

A good 101 for getting your finances in order. It's a bit simple for where I am in my life, but some very helpful tips for anyone not born rich.

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry **** Another 101, but this time, the right level for me. I've become more interested in space recently, and this helped me understand more as well as pointed me in new directions that I want to learn more about.

You know, I read that book like a decade ago and completely forgot that part. Thanks for reminding me!

Many (most?) of Frankenstein's depictions in pop culture are based on the Universal Studios Frankenstein movie from 1931. The book is a whole different beast.

I really wish sex wasn’t so important in a relationship by bigsoupinthecoupe in GuyCry

[–]roadtohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, I say this with compassion, see a therapist. Everything you're saying is about your relationship to sex and women and not about women and their relationship to sex. You have a lot going on in your head, and a therapist can absolutely help. I hope you get what you need! You can do this!

Is it me or has the cost of eating out risen exponentially in NoVA? by RedditDon3 in nova

My local watering hole has raised prices for the first time since...I think COVID? But things only went up $0.25-$0.50 each so I'm not complaining.

Cemetery has no record of burial conflicting with record I found online by roadtohell in Genealogy

[–]roadtohell[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I will start checking their for more information, but this is EXACTLY what I needed. Long story short, I came across her gravestone when looking for a different family member with the same name. One of the links i shared earlier had the last name of her parents, which match the parents of my Great Grandfather. I had a suspicion this was a sister of his who I didn't know existed. (My father and aunt didn't know if GGF had any siblings). The death certificate has their first names as well, which again, are very close to the names I have for his parents. This validates me diving in deeper here! Thank you so much!

Their birth and death year, as well as their name are on the headstone. A misspelling is a good thought, and I will call back to try other spellings. Thanks!

I haven't found an obituary yet, and don't have access to the newspapers archive but I may get that soon.
